Description Bronze Dragons are as much at home in the water as they are in the sky. One of their favorite prey are sharks but, as this young Bronze just found out, those creatures tend to bite back...

It's the Bronze Dragon from D&D. Done in CS3 in about three days, for this one I wanted to try out some underwater effects. Took me a while to get it right but I'm pleased with the result.

As long as they don't overhunt sharks like humans do.

Someone here is going to have a tasty meal it seems.

Nice effect with the scales and membrane pattern. Like also the underwater effect (especially sun dapples on the bottom). As someone has already pointed out shark's bite would look much more nasty, though. Wouldn't you consider to add some details to the right wing (think wing fingers should be more visible - here it looks flat)? However, the rest of anatomy looks fine

Thanks for your feedback, I don't think this work is worth revising but I'm sure I can use your insights the next time.

Only one think is not right - the cuts on the dragon's leg. That's certainly not the mark after the shark's bite...

What a lesson for the young shark, grabbed in claws and taken out of the water into the air, dropped from a thousand feet - just for the fun of it.

Your art has rekindled my love for Bronze dragons!

They were one of my favorites when I got my first Monster Manual (3rd editioooooon!) and then after the Draconomicon.

x3 Keep up the epicness!!

That shark is either really, really brave or really, really stupid... maybe both...

I like this picture a lot! I love what you've done with the lighting underwater, especially the shading on the ocean floor. Also, nice work on the details, like the dragon's scales and the blood streaming from the shark's mouth. Great job!

Netarliargus In reply to SlightlyDraconic [2012-10-24 15:10:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Ah well, most animals will either fight or flee when in danger, with the sharks it's the first.

You're welcome! I guess so... the shark might want to rethink that particular strategy, however.
