Description Nothing personal but I don't like that new spyro... it's like a completely different dragon with the same name.

I honestly like the newest Spyro the best, I think its silly to be mad cause a character from a kids game got a new design. Not to be rude or anything. Also wonderful artwork! Its amazing what young artist can do!

lol,Β it can just be a bit hard to see something change so dramatically so suddenly.

As far as appearance went it's like they made a different dragon and called himΒ Spyro but as long as the personality and gameplay is still good I guess itΒ doesn't matter.Β

Better watch out Classic! Skyro has dagger like teeth, a mean flame, horns that put yours into shame, a mighty built in tail club, flesh tearing talons, and more combat buddies than you can shake a stick at!

NetsirkBlue In reply to ChromaColors [2012-05-08 21:01:29 +0000 UTC]

Skyro only has like four teeth... at least from the pictures that looks to be the case. Besides his horns look more angled for ramming then impaling. I'm sure classic spyro can hold his own ^^

The new one can't even jump in the game right?

ChromaColors In reply to NetsirkBlue [2012-05-08 21:12:04 +0000 UTC]

They are not usually seen, but the other teeth are definitely there. He is a clear carnivore with slashing teeth to tear apart his opponents, so they are given particular emphasis.

New one can fly quite skillfully once he learns how and can cross large bodies of water while old one cannot stay long in the air and has to fight hard to hover.

Due to limitations of the game, Spyro and and the other fliers have to travel to the other areas by balloon, but cannon and cutscenes show that they fly very well.

Old Spyro's horns are pointed even further backwards. Skyro's horns actually angle upwards quite nicely for poking baddies with.

lol, alright. You make a fair point. If they wanted a dragon so vastly different from the orginal though they shouldn't have claimed they are suppose to be the same. They could have made the game without Spyro.

They are not at all that different. Here, how about this...

Compare Skyro to the Classic and Legends and you will see that not only are their appearances closely similar, but so are their personalities. Classic is friendly and has an enjoy-life-now disposition while Legends is benevolent and takes his job as a Purple Dragon seriously. Skyro has Classic's open and cheerful attitude and Legend's work ethic and willingness to forgive his opponent if they prove themselves worthy of his kindness, just ask Cynder! As a result, Skyro has the best of both Spyros in personality along with a natural propensity for leadership.

Hmmm. I guess that isn't so bad. Pity about sparx though...

Best of all, it's cannon! Not making anything up!

The bug has been brought down to item status, though he never really was too important in the very first game where he was just a health meter and mostly ignored by the Dragons except for the occasional tip relating to his powers. It is only in the third game where Sparx actually regularly interacts with the characters, though until the Legends series he never receives much characterization.

Yeah but even so Sparx had been around since the beginning. Seems a bit harsh to just cut him out of the games.

ChromaColors In reply to NetsirkBlue [2012-05-09 19:26:06 +0000 UTC]

He's still there, but he's just an item now. However, he has some of the coolest powers as he BREATHES FIRE on his enemies! Best of all, these defeated enemies become butterflies, which the Skylanders can eat to restore health! So he both attacks enemies and heals you! And those wings~ They're like stained glass~ He also has the prettiest glow of his incarnations! He definitely makes up for his absence by leaving a lasting impression.

NetsirkBlue In reply to ChromaColors [2012-05-09 19:40:45 +0000 UTC]

lol, he breathes fire? Doesn't Spyro already do that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ChromaColors In reply to NetsirkBlue [2012-05-09 19:49:48 +0000 UTC]

Sparx does indeed breath fire! He actually does do that in the Classic series, though not often. He fights alongside you and turns enemies into nomable butterflies, because apparently everyone is an insectivore.

ChromaColors In reply to NetsirkBlue [2012-05-09 20:18:43 +0000 UTC]

It's odd because butterflies, especially the brightly colored ones, are toxic, or at least really nasty tasting.

I mean no other bug would be appealing to look at.

But what about moths? They can be beautiful too!

Did you know that there is a species of butterfly that drinks blood?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NetsirkBlue In reply to ChromaColors [2012-05-09 22:14:54 +0000 UTC]

I think I heard about that before... kind of creepy. And they couldn't really make the moths look beautiful in such little detail without them looking like butterflies.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ChromaColors In reply to NetsirkBlue [2012-05-09 22:21:47 +0000 UTC]

In the Classics the Butterflies never land. If moths were included as well, landing could have been used to identify them as moths lay their wings down to their sides while butterflies hold them up. If Activision (or whoever owns Spyro now) decides to make a game in the Classic's continuity with today's graphics, the Butterflies would be detailed enough to not only allow for many varieties, but they may also include moths for areas that are stuck at night. Butterflies by day, moths by night!

lol, genius. I don't think they'd fall back to the classic style of things though so I don't think there would be any reason for moths in the new game.

Not any time soon though. Legends was concluded, and there is a sequel for Skylands coming out, but Classics have yet to be resolved and Shadow Legacy appears to be the first part of a series.
