Awesome that you got the focus at just the right point on the moth's head! I'm trying out manual focus on my new little camera I got for Father's Day, but finding it really difficult to get it right - so respect to you for this!

It's tricky but in some instances it really helps to be able to use it! When I first got the camera I told myself I will only use manual mode and manual focus till I get it all down.

it's not always about the camera... I have seeen some awesome pics done with just a P&S, there are some nice ones out now a days that get 10 megapixels.

something like that would probably do me just fine, it's just at the moment i am using the camera on my mobile phone and it's only 2 megapixels. it's ok in perfect light, but once it gets dull the quality goes to shit, and the same when i try to zoom in on things, so i can't take detailed shots...

Interesting stuff. I like auto focus... Manual is a bit fiddly.
