These pterodactyls were flying around our back porch a few weeks ago. It was actually an easy shot - they're less shy than butterfliesAlso known as a hummingbird moth as they come out at dusk and their wings beat so fast that people often mistake them for hummingbirds. The camera allows a glimpse we wouldn't see with our human eye!

I remember the first time I saw a sphinx moth. I was in grade school and when I saw it up in a corner of a hallway I just stopped and stared at it because I had no idea what it was, all I knew was that it was HUGE!!!

I know - I lurve it! But the larva for these suckers! Texas sized!
