Do you just paint over the top of the wolf image with a brush on a separate layer? Also, do you paint for lighting in that first shot or were you just getting the coloration down? (basically, do you do lighting while painting or do lighting after you finish the character's painting?)

What brush and brush settings do you use? Basic round brush for base and then just go smaller for detailing? I have such a hard time finding the right brush and settings for repainting fur.

"Hard round pressure opacity" mostly. Sometimes I switch between that and "hard round pressure size" when I'm doing fur around the outside and want the ends to taper. I pretty much leave the brush settings as default. Just make sure you have pen pressure enabled for both opacity and flow.

How often would you say you recolor/repaint versus painting/sketching from scratch?

I do mostly photomanipulations, so I repaint/recolour much more often.

After you repaint, do you sharpen up the wolf or do you sharpen the whole image together in the end? :3
(Luffles your work btw!! )

I have so many questions I don't even know where to start, nor how to phrase them. Do you do your painting on separate layers, or do you put them all on one layer? After you're finished repainting, how would you go about sharpening it like you did here ? When you do your fur accents, do you do one colour or pick several within the colour range, depending on the shadows? and also are you open for commissions? xDD

I paint on multiple different layers just because it's easier to make corrections. Afterwards, I merge all the painted layers into one and either sharpen that (if I'm just putting it on a simple background) or sharpen the whole image if there is a legit background. When I do accents, I typically use the colour picker tool and then choose a slightly lighter shade of that colour. I am open for commissions: 404mockingbirds.deviantart.com… and the form 404mockingbirds.deviantart.com… x3
