Awesome, incredible design for the Dragon of Erebor!! This has to be my favourite pre-Hobbit films design of Smaug that I've seen and commented on on dA so far! I absolutely LOVE how massive Smaug's unfolded wings look in comparison to his wyrm-y body, and for that matter, I also love Smaug's body design: with his thin, almost delicate-looking limbs, the reptilian features and scales, the fin-like webbed-spine sail that's not similar from Game of Thrones dragons, and that flattish head that goes well with his twisting body in sequence. Smaug's body design really is evocative of words like "worm," "slug" and such that were used towards him in the book (what I've read so far of it and looked up online anyway), with its serpentine and fish-like features and flattish head which fits with that coiling, wyrmy pattern. Bee-ayutiful and gorgeous, I can practically see this mighty, awesome dragon smashing and burning the mountainside!!
