I think the composition would be improved with some more space on the left side and the bottom on the bird, other than that, this is a really beautiful shot

I'm always close to the ground. My knee and trouser bottoms were covered in mud but I wasn't laying for this shot - i was in a ditch lol

no not on this shot. Maybe around about 2% just to get it slightly more on the thirds mark but pretty much untouched.

Oh I dunno about that. Its probably the best gull shot i've got to date, but not the best wildlife one i've gotten todate. Theres quite a few deer ones I perfer over this, and barnowls.

btw thats not a black headed gul its a tern...

are you sure on that one? What type of tern? It was bigger than the common terns I've seen - a Lot bigger. Also Terns black markings usually are only on the cap of the head.
I thought this was a black headed gull that was sort of changing between winter and summer coats :S

This is a really charming shot. I didnt think I would like it when I clicked ont eh thumbnail but the "expression" of the bird is just great.
