Very nice shot. The seal looks very nice, and somewhat inquisitive :3 Quick question though... Was this seal wild or captive? I've found that getting a good picture of wild seals is really hard Dx
Congrats on the DD.

Glad you like it
Its a wild seal taken at Donna Nook, UK last december. The light was crap for the 2/3 days I was up there and I took a lot of shots. It was hard work but worth it. Check out my other seal shots

Sweet! I'll be sure to look :3
I was asking because about a month ago I was at the Oregon coast with my Biology class, and we were watching some seals in two different locations. My camera's zoom is extremely limited and doesn't take good action shots, so I missed a lot of good opportunities to have pictures of swimming seals.
I did however get some shots of a mother and her pup basking on some rocks They didn't turn out as good as I had hoped, but I was just happy to get a shot.
Sorry about the novel, but I was just curious :3

thats not a novel - not by a long shot yeah its practice and practice. Camera gear comes into it a bit - i've invested a LOT of money in the last three years in pro spec glass. It pays off and helps a lot but its the photographer that makes the shot at the end of the day.
Its quite common for professional photographers to be out done by a kiddie with a compact lol.

xD I'm not professional by a long shot ^__^; I just whip out my camera at a good photo opportunity. Usually when it involves my dog doing odd things.
I would probably invest in camera gear if I were a better photographer, but sadly I'm not so I'll just stick to my weird OC's and take pictures in my spare time xD

This would make an awesome documentary
"The seal can often be observed practising its menacing lurk in case any hapless fish come along. When these unfortunate fish notice the dolorous puppy eyes an inch above the water, it is already far too late."
