Description
Commission Sheet Β | Online portfolio | instagram | Facebook | YouTube | ArtStationI have been asked more and more often if I make, or ever will make tutorials.
I've been thinking of doing those for quite some time, but since I'm rather bad at explaining things, I thought maybe I'll start with recording time lapses first, hoping that would help out others as it did for me.
I've tried to show my progress step by step before, and show my progress in steps on Instagram too these days.
I often don't have any explaining to what I do, or why I do it, I just draw and it just happens, making it hard for me to explain it in details for others.. I hope this makes a first step towards future tutorials, please let me know what you think and how it might become better for the future! I'll make more like this in the future if there's enough demand for it.
For this tutorial, I used PhotoahopΒ CS6 and a wacom Intuos pro 4 tablet

Thank you for clearly labeling the settings! This is very useful.

Hello ! Thanks for the tutorial. I followed it but I can't really understand how you did the 5th step (i'm using krita, but i just started so i don't really know about it). I couldn't manage to create that dark blue to blue drops. Can you tell me please if you were using the degraded tool or you did it by yourself ? (sorry for my english, i'm french )

I'm unfamiliar with the program Krita, I used Photoshop CS6 to draw this. Step 5 shows a blend mode: Screen, which is sort of a layer setting, lightening the color on that layer. It's not really a must do step, you could also draw with a lighter color to sort of create the same thing, since I'm not sure if Krita has something like blend modes. Other than that, it's all just drawn by hand Β

I have no idea if there is a blend mode on krita xD i'm really considering swapping for SAI because i can't find a lot of tutorial for krita or compatible with krita. I'll work more on the eye so eventually i'll found a way to do it thank you for your answer <3

you're welcome! I do really recommend SAI, used that program myself for years, it's really user friendly!

I actually choose Photoshop xD I tried SAI but there is a problem with the size of the interface, it was too small, i manage to correct this but the screen looked weird, it wasn't confortable. Photoshop seems like a good alternative, and close enough from SAI so I can adapt tutorials

Simple and easy to follow!
I have the same problem with making tutorials. "I do this thingy and then this thingy...."
I like process videos for that reason because I can just watch how someone works instead, sometimes. I like these helpful graphics too!

Aaaahh seeing the final look of the eye is just so satisfying! Thank you so much for making this! Though i do not have the same program you use, i can easily try to modify it to fit better on the art program i'm using. (Medibang) Again thanks so much! Maybe if you ever decide to make another thing like this, you could try hair? Or fur texture? I always wondered how people make the lighting work in such a detailed paintbrush look. >w<

thank you!! >w<
I've never used Medibang myself, but I'm sure that this should be possible to follow even in there! I haven't really used many specific Photoshop stuff outside the 'screen' layer setting and the outer glow at the end. But most programs have similarities with one another. I know that SAI has layer settings too, just named different than in Photoshop and a lot less to choose from, and is only missing out on the outer glow option.

Oh my god! You did an eye tutorial! I had many toubles with eyes, gonna try this, even if it is with Sai.
You saved me!! Thank you very much Nezu!

yesss Hope it helps! You should be able to do this in SAI too yeah (I used to use SAI some years ago) Only the layer setting like 'screen' has a different name, and there's no 'outer glow' option, but that's easily done by just drawing too >w<
