Description
My entry for 's 2nd vectoring contest. The image features Kotobuki Tsumugi (and her keyboard) from the series K-On!.I also made a 30-minute-long timelapse video of the vectoring process. Part 2 is a bit slower (184 fps opposed to Part 1's 258 fps) and has most of the 'interesting' stuff happening.
Part 1 - [link]
Part 2 - [link]
A bit over 22 hours of work while recording and another 5-6 hours planning how to do stuff and figuring out tools that I was not familiar with (perspective grid, brushes, patterns, blend tool and a few others).
Original vector file (.Ai) available on request.
Original art by 71 (nanaichi), vectored by me.

I wish I could download the vector file and see how much space it would take up both compressed and uncompressed. I download a 1.1MB Vector and it compresses to 70KB. Data compression is an interest of mine.

Damn this is a nice vector!
What did you use to record the videos and the post processing of them? That timelapse was pretty cool.

Really nice! As a vector artist as well it seems some of the shadows are soft edged and for the jeans you added a jean texture? Also the keyboard is a 3D Model? Either way great work!

Well, technically there are no patterns or textures in the image. The denim texture, for an example, is made with a **** ton of shapes and different blending modes. However, there is a Pattern Tool in Illustrator but I didn't opt for it as it left visible gaps between the texture/pattern tiles.

I have actually used the pattern tool a lot in Illustrator. If you play with it a little or edit there patterns you can get rid of the gaps, Its worth it for some effects and it can take to much time for others.
Its nice to have still.
Going to hold of on commenting on this and all the other images till the contest it over.

My gosh. This is possibly the best vector I've ever seen. Fantastic job, love the textures and minute detail. Shading is top-notch as well. You should congratulate yourself.
