pencili know i know, the pose is so freakin cliche it's not even funny.. but hey... it's superman! XD
once saw a drawing of him by one of my influences, Carlos Pacheco. he drew his cape where the sides were noticably shorter than the middle.. it gave it a very unique look, and in my opinion, a much more interesting shape.. so i kind of used that look for my rendition of superman... i know i'm probably going to hate it next week hehe

I'm not going to lie to you, I do plan on asking a LOT of people to come and join! This site is amazing but you really have to dig through a lot of stuff to get to the really good comic related pics and it can be quite tedious. The crit forum at comicbloc is one of the friendliest and most supportive on the net and if you are any kind of comic fan, I guarantee that you have been entertained by at least one of the professionals who grace the site with their presence. Geoff Johns (who helps run the site) and Kurt Busiek will both be writing Superman in a few months and they post there fairly often so there will be a TON of Superman fans at the site in a month or two (as if there wasn't a lot already!)
If you do decide to join up, I'd totally appreciate it if you filled in "Brian LaBelle" as your referrer but please don't feel you have to mention me on the site or anything, it won't win you any points with anyone and joining is more than enough thanks for me. I will say most people there don't really dig having to click on links so if there's any way you can directly your post your pics there first and then build up a little following who WILL come check out the pics here, I'd recommend doing that.

Y'know, that pose - overused as it may be - just seems right for Superman. This is prob'ly one of my favorite pics of him... and you know, there's been alot of pics of him. Great job!

Excellent work. You have wonderful detail about the waist and abs. His arms are nice and buff, well detailed as well, especially considering how simple a design Supe's outfit really is. I do have to agree with Jetstream a bit, though. The right foot looks turned a little awkwardly, but otherwise a truly great pic.

This is a very good pic. My only problem is the right foot(his right. Not yours). I think you should redo it. To me, it makes the whole lower part of the body from the femur down look less grand than the upper region of the body. I blocked out the right foot and the picture looks a whole lot better. So, work on that food, otherwise, this picture is nothing short from amazing.

the folds of the cape have almost a mcfarlen feel to them. the shading is well done and i like how his right arm and chest was rendered. his expression his a good proud (but not arrogant) look to it.
