Description The sun was setting over the high mountains of the Deep Vinkus when Glinda the Good pulled the hood of her traveling coat back. In amazement she surveyed the impressive castle by the name of Kiamo Ko. People said it wasn't safe to travel into the Deep Vinkus for several reasons. One was, that the journey through the mountains was rough and dangerous. Another, that hostile tribes lived here and the country was not exactly civilized due to its isolation from Loyal Oz. And last but not least, especially these days, was that the Wicked Witch of the West resided in Kiamo Ko the castle of the royal family of the Vinkus. People feared the Witch just as much as the wild tribes, perhaps even more.
Glinda however did not fear the Witch, in fact she was the reason she had come here tonight. And it had been a troublesome journey. Although she was a sorceress herself she did not have the skill to ride a broom across the mountains. When she had left the Emerald City for Kiamo Ko she had informed her husband she intended to visit her parents in Gillikan. Any excuse for a long journey would have sufficed at that point. Looking up at the castle she realized she should have come here years ago not driven by fear. But as it turned out time was scarce now which she had realized far to late. All that remained now was what fear had encouraged her to pursuit. She had left the Emerald City in a hurry when she had heard that the Wizard had ordered the farm-girl Dorothy to seek out the Wicked Witch and kill her. As it seemed that Dorothy succeeded at everything she set out to do, Glinda was afraid that she might indeed be able to carry out the deed. Making use of the magical powers she did possess she had managed to get ahead of Dorothy and her companions by half a day. And to do what exactly? Warn the Witch? Glinda was sure she knew Dorothy was coming for her. What was she expecting? She didn't really know, all she was sure of was that she had so see her, she had passed on too many chances and she feared this might be her last.
Suddenly she felt uneasy, she had the distinct feeling she was being watched. Glinda looked around but she was alone. She looked up at the castle and her glance came to rest upon the highest tower. It was as if something was drawing her eyes towards it, something magical, something...
Suddenly she heavy doors of the castle swung open and Glinda jumped in surprise.
"Galinda." Said a familiar voice and the blond starred in wonder at its owner.
"Nanny." She replied in disbelief at sight of the old woman greeting her. She had not seen the keeper of the Thropp siblings since her time at Shiz. She had aged a lot since than but so had Glinda, she was no longer the bubbly schoolgirl known by the name Galinda.
"So you remember old Nanny, a pleasant surprise at that. She's waiting for you in the top tower."
"She is?" She wondered only mildly surprised that the Witch had known she would come.
"Personally Nanny had expected you much sooner." The old woman stated gesturing for her to enter. "But these are complicated times, not easy on whoever may be concerned. Especially Elphaba and she understands, you know, she didn't even expect you any time sooner." Glinda blushed feeling guilt take hold of her. Not only for Elphaba's sake should she have come earlier but also for her own. "She's expecting you now, don't let her wait." The blond nodded and stepped inside the impressive castle. Nanny didn't waste any time on telling her who else lived here or how life had been these past years, she guided the sorceress to a steep winding flight of stairs. "Up you go, my Pretty." The old woman said.
"Thank you so much, Nanny." Glinda replied genuinely smiling at her before climbing the stairs to the highest tower.
When she had reached the top she faced a wooden door and it swung open just as she raised her hand to knock. And there she sat, Glinda was transfixed for a moment and she just starred at her. Elphaba Thropp looked exactly like she had remembered her. Silk-like black hair, sharp features, simple dark clothes, the infamous Witch's hat and her beautiful emerald skin. She sat at a table bowed over a large book and the blond felt reminded of their days at Shiz when Elphaba used to read for hours and hours.
"Don't just stand there, come in." The green witch commanded finally looking up from the pages and Glinda obeyed. She felt transparent to the Witch's gaze and a little uneasy as she was unable to read her expression. "So you have come." Elphaba stated surveying her attentively and the sorceress nodded.
"Yes I have." She gave back realizing that she had never had thought about what she wanted to do if she go here before Dorothy. "You seem to not have changed much." The Witch actually gave a small smile.
"Maybe not and maybe I have, who is to judge that? You don't seem to have changed at all."
"I don't think I have." Glinda agreed with a sad smile. Yes, it was indeed sad that she hadn't gotten far in all these past years. She was stuck the way she had been so many years ago. All this wasted time. "I should have come looking for you earlier..." She admitted well aware of the fact how different things could have turned out.
"You did some years ago but I didn't want to be found." Elphaba replied dismissively.
"Fiyero found you." Glinda gave back gesturing around her as this used to be his castle and the green woman nodded.
"So he did."
"Then... why did you allow him to find you and not me?" The blond didn't know what caused her to raise this question since she was almost sure the other woman would not answer. She felt she had to ask anyway. As suspected she indeed did not provide an answer. Instead she got up from the table and walked towards the window watching the last rays of sunshine disappearing behind the mountains. Feeling a sudden wave of courage taking hold, Glinda continued: "Why did you do that Elphaba?" She demanded to know. "Why did you choose him over me? What was so wrong with me?" She watched Elphaba's body stiffen and realized that she had hit the heart of the matter. The blond approached the Witch who refused to face her. "I would have followed you to the very end, you know." Glinda stated her voice suddenly soft, she sounded almost fragile. "I'm still willing to…"
"Is that why you have come here?" Elphaba wanted to know, her voice suddenly raw and hard. "You want to follow me to the end?"
"Elphaba I know that the Wizard sent a company to kill you." The sorceress replied quietly as if she was afraid to say it out loud. The green woman actually laughed at that.
"So you think a stupid farm-girl can kill me?" She turned to face Glinda who stood right behind her. "Do you really think she will kill the Wicked Witch of the West before being killed herself?" She asked bitterly, her expression hurtful, not because she felt doubted in her strength but because of what the people thought her capable of.
"I don't know and that scares me." The Good Witch gave back looking towards the ground.
"So you came here to see me because you think my time is at an end?" She wanted to know.
"I came here because I'm afraid this might be my last chance." She answered truthfully.
"Last chance to do what exactly?" Elphaba asked bitterly and Glinda bit her lower lip in embarrassment.
"I don't know..." She admitted. "Until recently I was inclined to believe this was just what life would be like for me, you know... Having balls, shopping, serve my husband as arm-candy... it's... not the life I had made it out to be. And being confronted with the prospect of you... not being here any more... made my think on what I am missing. I've passed on so many chances, I can't life with the regrets any longer. I'm afraid this might be my last chance to... make it right..." Elphaba had listened attentively even when her words had become continuously more hushed.
"You... never did anything wrong Glinda." The Witch gave back softly and raised her hand to the blond's cheek running her fingertips over her delicate skin. Suddenly Glinda felt tears spring to her eyes and she swallowed hard.
"Yes I did, I made so many mistakes. I should never have let you walk away. I should have got out of the carriage that day in the Emerald City..."
"I wouldn't have wanted you to." Elphaba gently shook her head. "Don't you think you had a choice and took the wrong one..."
"I can't change it now." Glinda agreed leaning into her touch. "All that matters now is that I won't let you go again. I've put off this ultimate choice long enough and I don't care what you think about it. Whose choice or mistake it was doesn't matter, all that matters is that this is our last chance to make it right, so I beg you to take it." Now it was Elphaba's turn to swallow down tears. Maybe this really was their last chance. Everything might be over once Dorothy arrived here in the morning. She wanted to give Glinda everything she wanted since she deserved it and so much more. But still she was well aware of the consequences. There was no chance Elphaba would ever be rehabilitated and she would pull her down with her. She couldn't be as selfish as to risk sacrificing her for her own desire. The blond seemed to read what was going on in her head and she continued in a trembling voice barely above a whisper:
„I'd rather spend this one night with you and be executed as the Witch's accomplice in the morning than spend the rest of my life in the golden cage they call my home."
And suddenly something snapped inside of Elphaba, her self-loathing and doubt were overwhelmed by the unbearable desire to fulfill Glinda's every wish and lay the world at her feet. The world however was not hers to give, all she had was herself and she gave herself up willingly. She crashed her lips onto Glinda's who finally allowed her tears to fall, not out of sorrow but relief. The Witch pulled her close immediately deepening the kiss. The blond buried her hands in her raven tresses moaning into the kiss as she allowed her to push her up against the table behind her. Panting they broke apart and Elphaba continued to plant kisses along her jawline down to her sensitive throat. She started to undo her traveling coat while tasting her sweet skin and feeling her blood rush at a rapid pace beneath her lips. Desire that had been suppressed for years and years took hold of them causing them to move fast. This should have happened during their time at Shiz when they had first discovered their feelings for one another. Glinda helped her to strip her of the goat and her light blue dress and then proceeded to help the green woman out of the black gown. Within seconds they were kissing again and Elphaba lifted the smaller woman onto the table. The blond wrapped her legs around her to pull her closer.
"Do you know how long I've dreamed about this?" The Witch whispered before nipping at her earlobe.
"I got a pretty good idea." Glinda replied undoing the other woman's black bra. She ran her hands over her shapely breasts feeling her nipples grow erect under her palms. Elphaba stripped her of her bra as well turning her attention to her full breasts. The blond threw her head back when she ran her tongue over her sensitive skin. The green woman caught her lips in another possessive kiss.
"Let's go to bed." She whispered seductively against her lips and Glinda grinned.
"You know, I was actually looking kind of forward to doing it on the table." She laughed at Elphaba's stunned expression and continued winking: "I'm kidding, take me to bed." The Witch didn't need to be asked twice, she lifted her up in her arms and carried her towards the bed in the corner. She dropped her onto the dark sheets and the Good Witch pulled her on top of her. They shared another kiss while discovering each other's bodies.
"I love you Glinda." Elphaba confessed brushing her hair from her face so she could look at her. "And I'm sorry all I can give you is one night." Glinda smiled placing her fingertips on her love's lips.
"I will follow you to the end and it'll take much longer than one night, my love." There was a certain sense of sadness in Elphaba's eyes but she closed them swiftly as they kissed again.
"I love you too, Elphaba, more than you can possibly imagine." The blond smiled when they broke the kiss.
"I shall try to live up to that." The Wicked Witch replied smiling herself as she started to kiss down her body to the place where Glinda needed her most after all these years.

When Glinda fell asleep exhausted from extensive love-making Elphaba watched her sleep soundly in the moonlight. She watched her a long time until there were only a few hours left until the sun would rise again. Realizing that her time was running out the Witch got up trying not to wake her and made her way to the desk on which her magical book, the Grimmerie, still lay. She turned a few pages until she found what she was looking for. When she spoke the spell to put Glinda into a very deep sleep from which she couldn't be woken until the morning a silent tear ran down her cheek leaving a burning trail.
Elphaba got dressed and lifted the Good Witch into her arms. She did not wake while Elphaba carried her with her on her broom back to the Emerald City, back to her life. Away from her, away from danger. Elphaba could not allow for her to be hurt on her account. She needed Glinda to live, even when her own time had drawn to an end.
Indeed, Glinda did not wake until the morning. When she did, she found herself alone in the wide double bed in the Chuffrey's house. Voices from the streets below woke her from her dream of emerald.
„Did you hear the news? They say Dorothy managed to kill the Wicked Witch of the West."

END.
