It's what rumflakes said! It's so I can clip layers onto it to color. This old walkthrough in my tutorial explains it in the description under the "Clipping Group" section niaro.deviantart.com/art/Paint…

This might have been done differently, but when I do it, I usually just preserve the opacity for the lineart layer and paint on the colors that fit c:

Finally, someone else who sketches like I do! Most of artists' "sketches" I see are like lineart level. Glad to know that not everyone is like that.

yaaay finally another tutorial from my favourite artist ovo
you always seem to do basic drawinsg, something that isn't quite large scale or big on detail, buuut your style is simple and original ,what are you planning with all the profits of your adoptables anyways? you seem so productive when it comes to them, just getting carried away?^^

www you're too nice and ah I used to focus on detail more when I was younger but I am fond of simplicity.
also in the future don't ask people what they do with their money www I'm sure you didn't mean anything by it but it is very personal to ask it all of the sudden. I use it for living expenses, rabbit food, save for trips to convention I'd like to go to and other personal miscellaneous. No matter what people always need money so I work work work~
