i never thought of this guy asan android given he's more like shadow than the ''other'' androids i imagined he was more of a prototype to Shadow minus the Black Arms DNAΒ

it just never made sense to me that the other androids were robotic looking, i know eggman eventually makes a series of shadow andriods that look like him but presumably the androids in StH multiplayer were sealed away on the ARK as a seperate or failed attempt before project shadow

To add to that theory Shadow is thought to have been based off the Super Sonic mural on Angel Island and the Biolizard based off the Perfect Chaos mural. Maybe the stripes were originally golden like the Super form, but because it wasn't a true Super form the body couldn't handle it's own power even after Gerald invented the Inhibitor Rings to try and control it. The Black Arms DNA could have been added to make the body stronger and more stable due to the impressive biology of creatures like the Black Oaks and even the Black Bull and Black Doom himself. The gold could have turned red as a unintended side effect of adding the alien DNA, but you can still see the gold aura when he boosts and the gold energy attacks like the Chaos Spear.

Probably Metal since he can copy Shadow Android's abilities and has much more experience. If we were talking about Metal Sonic 2.0 (as seen in the games between CD and 4) or classic Metal (CD) then I'd give it to Shadow Android since he is a much more advanced model and has a large set of abilities that Metal wouldn't immediately understand. Shadow Android also seems to have a consciousness that Metal 2.0 lacks which makes him much more unpredictable (probably the reason the Shadow Android project was scraped, don't want an army of rogue robots running around).
