Plot twist, Terios is another version of Nazo who took the body of an alternate timeline version of Sonic who's body was damaged (which would explain the face scar)

I'm not huge on the idea of them being able to transform without the chaos emeralds, but let's go with this idea:
they are able to store power from the Chaos Emeralds in theirΒ bodies, so the longer they stay around the emeralds the more power they have for later
things like Rings would also charge of the chaos powers.

Rock you do know the DBZ Fusion earrings would remove any scars and broken parts as long as the other one does not have them right. so that scar and eye would be normal if this is a fusion of the 2 you set up
