I'm certainly not the only one who was upset or bothered by the way Shadow turned. Sure, it was inevitable, but I wish he wasn't so stubborn about it. I dunno, something about it felt...off. People compare this depiction of Shadow to Vegeta aaaand... I don't think that Vegeta would do something so reckless.
I don't know if this is true or not (someone can correct me), but I heard that Shadow was meant to take off his Inhibitor Rings to try and fight them off (similar to his '06 ending), but his turn was, again, inevitable. Might be a rumor, might not be, I dunno, but I think that would've been a way more interesting way for him to go. TxT

Oh no, I understand whyΒ he behaved the way he did. He's the Ultimate Life Form, made for such situations. That makes sense. But what DOESN'T make sense is Shadow continuing to stubbornly fight like a moron after discovering that even he can be infected. TxT He didn't know at the time, but the Metal Virus targets organic beings (inorganics like Metal Sonic and Gemerl are immune to the infection, though they can still be savagely torn apart as Omega found out the hard way lol). He told the friends' advice of "running away" as an act of cowardice instead of actual advice to help him burn it off. It just made him look utterly silly.
Everyone who got infected thus far at least went out in a meaningful way: (SPOILERS for those reading this comment and haven't caught up. Don't blame me.) Vanilla went out trying to defend her child, Charmy's innocence and naivity got him into trouble (he's a child, you can't fault him too much), Vector realized his mistake and decided to make the sacrifice and deal with his errors so his friends could escape, and Tangle, who has the best way to go thus far imo, knew she was infected and decided to have the already infected Sonic help her fend off a couple and decided to remain behind (like Vector) and fight off as many Zombots as she possibly can before her inevitable infection. She fought until the end and it was an awesome moment for her.
Shadow went out like an idiot in comparison to everyone else. The rest got infected because of more "heroic" reasonings, making sacrifices to help their friends/family or going through selfless acts of heroism. Shadow did it because of dumb pride and arrogance... and that's just... Blegh. 7_7 You know it's a problem when Charmy's infection is a lot more meaningful than Shadow's. XP

Flynn said that Sega has been forcing him to Write Shadow more akin to Vegeeta. Which is honestly something I'm really disappointed in, because sure--Shadow may take some inspiration from Vegeeta, but he really was his own character. The way all the existing characters have become more shallow over the years, plus Sega enforcing it with their mandates has killed a lot of potentially good writing. I've simply avoided reading the comics because of that. It is too upsetting.
