Arrival (The Inheritor's Progress Plate I, steel plate etching, 2010

The inheritor's Progress was my thesis body of work for my graduate degree. It is a traditional thematic suite, done in the style of Hogarth. It tells the story of an anti-hero and his posse of minions who manipulate their way to power using means overt, covert and even occult.

Here in the first plate, our anti-hero arrives. He is met by the lowest of his new servants, whom I think of as the gardener or the caretaker. While nothing is exactly made one hundred percent clear in any of these images, I was always attempting to imply a lurid connection between the various characters and to at least offer a few hints about their thoughts, feelings, motivations and character.
