Thank you so much- these don't get a lot of love, but I'm always happy when someone appreciates them!

Love the palette you chose for this one. It probably isn't the color mix I would have picked, but that's a very good thing because this is so much better.

Thanks! I try to push my colors towards new places whenever I can- still, a lot of combos recur. If you look at some of my older work...for whatever reason, this combo recurs!

Interesting composition and fish-eye-lens-like perspective. :]
The brush you're using for the trees (for example) looks great for this kind of work. Or rather, I can almost feel the "brusque" process.

Thanks I like the brush too- it adds a textural element that gives the simplicity some richness (I think? hope?) and in general it's fun to work with something that doesn't come out as slick/polished in the end.

I'm not normally huge into simplicity picks (I tend to glance at them and go "oh that's nice" and nothing more), but the composition and color of this one just strikes me in a really excellent way. Perhaps the addition of the girl, as well as your author note: "The hills were always perfect at night - dark and silent and full of secrets." It dashes an exclamation through the mood with just the right emphasis.

I'm glad to have captured your interest.
I think we generally all crave simplicity- it's something I want more of in my life and my work...the more complicated things get in life, the more I want my work to be the antithesis of that...and I've always been jealous of people who are brave enough to just "let it be" and stop noodling. So I'm giving it a go!

Hahaha - "stop noodling." I think that's the best way I've ever heard it put. I know I have such a hard time letting things go, and here you've done it beautifully.

a couple of hours? I honestly lose track of time when I'm working...and these are kind of nebulous

This seems a lot like a color map for an animated film.
I'd see the film.

another beautiful piece! using a limited palette and making images simple are always a challenge for me, and you did a fantastic job.
I really love how the giant moon stands out from this picture. I love staring at the moon it's full and unusually big.
do you listen to a particular music while you made this and the "they go"?

Thank you!
Limiting my palette and focusing on color and shape seems to make it easier for me to creep towards drawing backgrounds. As soon as I tighten up and get particular, I get paralyzed and I start hating it.
I DID listen to particular music for each piece, but I'm reluctant to share because I want people to bring their own sensibilities to the piece, and my taste in music is very particular (not sure you want it to color your perception )
