Description This is the first of a few re designs of the GI-Joe Marines. As you can tell by the title (and I hope you can by the face) this is my redesign of Gung-Ho. The Hasbro toy and the animation design of Gung Ho reminded me of a mix of the Village Peope and Freddie Mercury. Gung Ho was wearing a strange teal bases M81 style camo pants what appeard to be a teal vest of some sort without a shirt and a huge EGA tatoo in teal on his chest. I am sure this color scheme was supposed to have a "Maratime" feel to it but it failed on so many levels. Gung Ho was a grenadier and had what looked like a pump action China Lake 40MM grenade launcher. This weapon is awesome and (not shown in this version) needed to be updated to the M32 MGL.

I update Gung Ho's uniform and gave him a set of M81 Crye precision cammes and strayed away from the idea of the EGA tatoo on the chest. I would have a HOORAH tat on his arm if you could see his arms more. He now has Load Bearing Equipment to allow him to carry 40MM grenades for the MGL. He us wearing a Tan MBAV and has a Tactical Tailor 40MM belt on his chest as well as his waist, a First Spear "6-Pack" on his chest, 4 stand alone 40MM pouches (from his SFLCS kit), and two pouches I can't remember the company but they are pretty niffty. They have a self leveling follower that feeds a new grenade up as soon as one is stripped out. He has a MARSOC "Fanny Pack" used to hold his Blow out kit, a pair of flight gloves, PRC-148 (on his back) his 8 point cover and his trade mark handle bar moustache. Sgt Major Sixta would not approve of those MOOSTACHE HAIRS!

Hope you enjoyed this re-make of GUNG-HO. As always I do not own any TM or Copyright for this character. Gung Ho is owned by Hasbro.

I don't mean to be that one guy that corrects stuff, but, Marines say Oorah, not Hoorah.

Neat!
Reminds me of Haggard-or at least his appearance.

I wouldn't be surprised if this GI JOE might have inspired Haggards look. Glad you liked the pic and thanks for the comment.

Nice. I can see subtle effects in the uniform that make it look like slightly wrinkled cloth. You also nailed the look of the rolled-up sleeves. I'm not sure if the gloves are as strong, but they go have good, subtle shading in there reflecting the shape of the hand. Plus I really like how you used an old-school unsubdued American flag patch, and have it sticking out a bit--a tiny detail that many people would naturally overlook. This piece really shows the improvements you've been working hard to obtain.

However:
That moostache is outta reggalation by touchin the corners of ya mouth!

Yeah I am not as satisfied with the gloves either...they really looked better in the pencil roughs. I appreciate the kind words, I have been trying to get those small detials that make an illustration like this strong. It is an ongoing process...LOL.
