This really does prod at my imagination; the title as well. It makes me wonder who ran in there and why...and the biggest question - what is in there?
Really great work and a truly deserved DD!

Thanks JunsuiFox.
I tried to plant some clues about who or what ran inside but I obviously didn't make them clear enough. That's partly because this is a reduced size copy but partly because I just didn't do it well enough, sigh. Must do better next time, must do better next time, must do . . . . . .

I see nothing wrong with it at all. I think this is a fantastic image that you have produced and that you should not fret over it. It's a DD for a reason, my friend. A well deserved one at that

Thanks Cthulad. I won't be hanging out there with you, apart from in broad daylight and likely with camera in hand though. Maybe some roller skates for a quick getaway too - if my old knees would take it.

Whoa, there are all kinds of incredible metaphors/symbols built into this piece. And the color palette creates such this tone of hovering at the edge of the end, with the red drawing the eye and then the subtle golden shades of the leaves signaling the season on the brink of winter where everything else is somber gray.

Nickillus In reply to novemberkris [2012-07-09 16:15:47 +0000 UTC]
Now if only I could think as analytically as that. I was thinking sounds. The rustle of dry leaves as you march through them. The ominous silence when the wind suddenly drops and you are standing before somewhere you'd rather not go - but know you have to . . . .
With the red I was thinking little Red Riding Hood and all that of course. I'm nothing if not obvious.
Thanks for taking the time to add such a thought provoking comment novemberkris. Does your name mean you are a scorpio like my wife? She thinks more deeply than I do about things too. I wonder . . . . .?

That is lovely imagery in and of itself, and now I have an even fuller picture in my mind. I am actually a Sagittarius, but right on the cusp. The imagery in this piece really struck me. It must be the old English major in me.

Nickillus In reply to novemberkris [2012-07-10 12:31:14 +0000 UTC]
Thanks again NovemberKris. Obviously enough scorpio influence from your cuspiness to imbue you with that analytical streak - always a good thing.
I'm a born and bred Brit, so maybe it's hard for me to avoid splattering it into my paintings - more of an English minor though despite my age.
