Description
A new Godzilla 2014 drawing. I started this piece off in marker and had intended to stay all marker. I decided midway through to add watercolor on top to keep the tones underneath visible and the colors bright. Then I further embellished the drawing with color pencil.Sometimes, you just have to roll with it.
Watercolor, marker, and color pencil on 9"x12" vellum Bristol board.

Cool looking Godzilla, I think you capture the look of his face quite well. Thing is, he's a little green looking, I'd still call the 2014 Godzilla dark grey. Still, he is quite impressive looking I must say.

For whatever reason, I always see to make Godzilla green, even though he is charcoal gray. I guess it's a personal preference.

Hmm, fair enough I guess. He just seems off to me as green, light black seems like a far more fitting colour to me, he always looks a little wrong as green to me. I guess we just have out own personal preference then. He's still awesome in green.

I love what you did with this and I love that you were playing with different materials. The only thing I'd suggest is pick some of the darks and make them a tad more toward black.

I agree. Wanted to push the values more, but I would end up losing details. Lesson learned for next time.

Understood. But I really think you're on to something with all the mixed media. I really love the colors you got with it. Looking forward to your next one!!
