Description Ho hum....

The next phase of the Gojimera project: color. By all means, this is not the final work. I started off with that intent in mind, but continuously ran into the issue of not having enough space to draw Go'me (looks like the illo board for you). Instead of becoming disenchanted, I used the image as a color study and see how it would look and work with the inks. Definitely way too green for me- he needs more of a charcoal color. The color rendering works okay under the inks- so now it's a matter of getting the colors right and getting the whole figure into the picture frame.

On a side note, I used Aquabee Manga paper designed for marker use. I have to say, I'm impressed with it. I usually don't like smooth paper but this....this works. I like it.

Anyways, more soon. Stay tuned.

Awesome!

There actually does exist something like this in manga and anime. It's a recurring series of films in the Case Closed franchise. Many of the characters are fans of "Gomera".

Pretty cool looking final picture of this creation of yours, he is definitely fearsome looking. Those tusks and arm spikes defiantly add to the ferocity and menace of the creature, and those shoulder spikes are an interesting addition as well. Overall a pretty interesting design for this creature.

Well, it's not the final piece- just a color study. The overall design I would say is pretty locked and set in stone. I highly doubt we would ever see such a beautiful monster committed to celluloid, but man- what an idea it would be...

Yes, I see, well I await the final product then. But yeah, it would be neat to see it in some other form of media.

This is different from Godzilla?

Oh yes it is good bean...it's a mash-up of Godzilla and Gamera. It was challenging to strike a balance because both had such distinctive looks, but this is as close as I got that has both, yet is truly a blend.
