Description www.youtube.com/watch?v=o25I2f… This should make Duncan's point pretty clear. He's a blunt, plain-speaking engine. Geroge Carlin is a blunt, plain speaking man.

Anyhow... cue the sad Henry theme. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQHLeN…

Anyhow... people deal with grief in different ways. Me, I'm prone to crying when no one's around during such times. Others let it out by being angry and not shedding a tear. I felt it would be fitting to show Duncan finding an odd way to stand up for the guy. Yeah, it makes him look like a jerk, but hey, Duncan IS a jerk, and that's just how I like 'im. From his point of view, this is just his way of honoring the man.

Still got a few pages to go before this story is over. I know this bit is sad, and more adult than anything you'd EXPECT from Thomas The Tank Engine, but I have a way to end this on a happy note. You'll see. It'll all make perfect sense, soon.

Well, he's a plain, blunt engine, as he'd say. Seems fitting, no?

Again, very nice artwork.  I like the angle  you picked for Duncan chuffing away, when he says he died, he didn't 'pass away'.  Like he's determined to have the last word in the argument.

Yeah, that's exactly what I intended. It just felt fitting for the character.

Another thoughts on how the story ends?

I thought pass away meant going to die

It's just a softer, wishy washy sort of way of saying someone died.

And yet, Duncan is still likeable and sympathetic.

I like what Carlin said, even though I just saw the first two minutes of the video. Words speak louder than cries and sometimes being blunt and plain is a more realistic way of looking at things. But people deal with grief differently.

Later on in that video, he mockingly says, "I won't die... I'll pass away". It just felt fitting, you know?
