Though I may suggest changing his first name.

thanks! I considered the number of Captain Jacks though, but I'm probably going to stick with this one.
I named all the characters (aside from Mitch) from relevant historic figures. Jackie and Giselle are named after two of the best and earliest female pilots of the time period, and Jack is named after "Fighting" Jack Churchill (or "Mad Jack"), the british officer who fought during WW2 armed a bow and arrows, bagpipes, and a broadsword.
I think I can circumvent the "Jack" commonality since he's a military man and would most likely be referred to by his last name instead.
