the kodamas! i love them!
princess mono is one of my faves
we used to watch it pretty much once a week for a good couple months... we didn't have too big a selection of movies to watch but fortunately princess mono was one of them.
the ones in the shadow look rather sinister so this is a pretty new view point to them... they usually look rather happy ^_^

I love the Kodama! In fact, Princess Mononoke is one of my favorite movies. I like what you've done with them, especially the very bold color choice.

thanks man. i knew the color had to be strong, especially for a print. it looks a lot more subdued. i'm really glad that you like it!

Sure...
I honestly think your work is genius...
If I may ask...
Where do you get your inspiration from?

i get it from everywhere. but mostly it is the desire to show people something that will make them think or feel. i guess that is what makes me do what i do.

Brilliant
For some reason the whole design reminds me of "marble".
It has been said before, but anyway: Lovely movie, those spirits are really memorable, and your picture of them is awesome

The composition somehow reminds me of those streaks that are visible on polished marble [link] [link]
(as I said, I'm not quite sure why^^, maybe it's the slight colouring along the black lines on a predominantly white background)

ah i see what you mean. very cool observation my friend. i have wanted to paint on stone or marble because of the interesting textures. i seem to be attracted to the random flowing lines.

That sounds like a very interesting idea. And that's what I like about all kinds of textures... that I can see so many different things in those random patterns.

i was in muir woods national forest in northern california. i was walking down a path through ancient redwoods, and passed by this huge redwood that was VERY old. as i looked at it, i saw this face form in the bark. it was the face of an old man with a beard -- very ancient and wise. he looked right at me. i stared at the face for about 2 minutes or so -- even saw it when i continued to walk down the trail looking over my shoulder. i then decided i'd go back and take a photograph of the tree, to see if i could capture the spirit face; when i went back, the face was gone and it just looked like an ordinary redwood trunk. i've never forgotten that experience....
