There are a lot of great concepts that capture their purposes... Enough with the serious. This is great! I love the idea; it captures the remarkable layout of the city itself while showcasing the tremendous icon, the Eiffel Tower. I've seen a couple of your finger paintings; those are just as stunning. You, sir, have a natural-born talent. Many people who take the time to practice and reach their full potential hit a ceiling. Your ceiling is much higher. This is no ordinary artwork. You could probably make a really good living through art. I hope you continue your work.

Many artists tend to work and work on a piece to the point where it is so defined and perfect -it is no longer artistic. But nicolasjolly does not. This piece demonstrates the great talent he has for creating image through line and shape, without feeling the need to make the subject obvious. The Eiffel tower itself is a largely overdone subject, yet by using the map as a basis for the work it breathes new life into the iconic structure. Compared to the original, I feel the map has been better integrated, with a renewed sense of harmony. Overall it is a beautiful achievement, and one he should be proud of.

Oh? Do you think they should have been higher or lower? I felt that I was being honest and fair, without flattery or exaggeration.

I have seen many art of the Eiffel Tower but nothing like this. this shows great originality. You are very creative and smart. I am highly impressed with this piece of work that you have created. You should be very excited and very proud of yourself for producing some amazing art work. I cannot express how much i love this piece. this should go into an art museum. You deserve to show this work to the world. I am truly amazed you have true artist vision and your technique is simply amazing. It makes me feel empowered just looking at it.

I feel like the Eiffel tower is something that has been depicted by artist after artist, but never quite like this. I love the integration of the street map, which gives it a real gritty feeling, which with the watercolor gives the tower a whole new meaning and vision. I also love the nice balance of dark and light, which you seem to accomplish with all of your work, but just for some reason it seems to really stand out in this one. Overall I love the overall feel of the image and how though chaotic, it all feels streamline and with a method behind the madness.

I love this one; I've done similar myself in digital format. I love the strange chaos and energy by the overlay of the map grid system against the solid clanking iron of the tower, a kind of distortion akin to the vertigo of its height. The Eiffel Tower is so iconic that the incomplete image is still instantly recognisable. The reduced view to just the bottom section is the one that most eyes see at street level this close to it. You have to crane your neck for a fuller inspection. I can feel the approach of souvenir salesmen hustling me to buy their little trinkets and mementos and the regular scatter of photo-takers capturing their own private images

Now that's what I call a masterpiece.
As I said the map first was too much visible on the painting, but now it' perfect because it marries almost perfectly with the painting and gives a real great looking effect.
That's the essence of a city.
That's the essence of Paris, a city that lives an "equilibre" between the arts, and the rough life of a modern city: One part is made of Champs Elysees, the art, the romance, the moon and the poetry, and the other part is full of cars, shouting people, running people, nervous people...aaand this painting it's perfectly what I've said, the real face of Paris.

I really love the fragmented nature of this. It almost looks like it's exploding. There's also just enough colour in it to make it feel realistic and three-dimensional. I think if it was just monochrome, it would look a little dull and flat. Great piece.

I think both versions are great but you were dead right to retouch it like this I think - you're really looking at one thing and it just fits so elegantly, the grain of paris and the structure of the tower... it's maybe a bit disappointing with the New York piece that the orthogonal grid and the skyline doesn't allow for the same sort of play, but still it is also a great piece. Your gallery is really brilliant!
