Description "Existence is random. Has no pattern save what we imagine after staring at it for too long. No meaning save what we choose to impose. This rudderless world is not shaped by vague metaphysical forces. It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the dogs. It’s us. Only us. Streets stank of fire. The void breathed hard on my heart, turning its illusions to ice, shattering them. Was reborn then, free to scrawl own design on this morally blank world.

Was Rorschach."

Happy Tuesday, folks!

As I told you all yesterday, what started as a small homage to my favorite comic book has become a theme for my daily warm-ups. Hence, you will be wondering who watches the watchmen with me all week long Β

Today, the subject of my excersise was perhaps the most disturbed and yet the most applauded character in the story: Rorschach. Which is interesting, because Moore describes him as being this collection of things that shouldn't be appealing at all. In fact, he has said in many interviews that he intended for Rorschach to be hated for his very nature; an exploration on the insanity one has to have in order to be a costumed vigilante. Of course, what we wish as authors seldom is what happens, so Rorschach went on to become the icon of the story.
For me, I think this character has been praised because he represents a part of us that is hidden. A side of our nature that many people are often tempted to explore but don't due to our society's laws. Hence, it is interesting to explore what would happen if you finally lost it and went on to a justice rampage, no holds barred. Especially from the comfort of fiction

I tried to stay close to the coloring style of the original, yet add some subtleties that its printing obviously lacked due to the era it was conceived in. I think I managed a pretty interesting interpretation and I hope you enjoy it as much as the previous one

Thanks again for watching (pun intended) and see you tomorrow!

Nic.-

Β Poor Rorschsch - unlike many I've never seen him as anything other than pitiable, yet dangerous; I've never been quite able to decide if the poor monomaniac needs a shower or a long spell of therapeutic care more badly.

Well, it certainly was Moore's intention to have Rorschach be a sort of cautionary tale, so pity is one way you can feel about it if you understand the deep troubles a guy has to have to start beating on criminals at night

Hahaha Leave it to Rorschach to start a good old fashioned prison riot.

Some heroes have godly superpowers, some have high tech equipment, some are highly trained martial artists, some just use guns.

Rorscach has none of this, he is just a random normal guy and he makes up for all of it by having no limits, by always being as vicious as possible. I think that's what made him so pleasing to me

Well said, Victor. I agree that his unflinching committment to vigilantism is what makes him, in the end, the most consistent character within the comic.

Glad I could make him justice! All of these characters are pretty daunting for us fans of the comic; but I tried to put in it the atmosphere I got from my first reading and I think, at least that way, it works.

I swear that when I read that line back in the day I was like 'This guy's seriously scary'. He became Rorschach right at that moment for me.
