Tada! More of my Duo, i love these two.
Storywise... Nicole only became a important character after Nebula Grey was deleted at the end of the Movie.
(Starting from there i just use some different story alterations, like Bass never leaving and combing MMBN and the NT Warrior Manga together. I also prefer using Bass personality more from MMBN and the Manga, and especially the Manga because he felt more like a actual character there, with motivations and loses and coming to grips with himself and others.)

"Nicole Cossack herself moved to ACDC around one year or One and a half years before Nebula Grey appeared. She was one of the last people to join Lan's class when she moved in.
Up until the incident Nicole also didn't even sport a Custom made Net Navi, She installed a standard Model onto the empty black PET her Grandfather gave her a month before she together with her father moved abruptly from Nettopia to ACDC. Her father gave to reasons for that when asked, one he needed to move to a new hospital that was in need of a Surgeon and the second reason being that the bad invirmental conditions of Nettopia where harmful to his Daughters Health, as she already has a medical condition. Though when asked closely he doesn't reveal what exactly she has.
Though eventually her friends discovered that she has HBD (Unoffically "Heart Beat Disorder" or "Heart Broken Disease) making her overall body condition quite poor.
Bass came to be with her after she successfully retrieved his damaged body, after in fact receiving a distress call on her Grandfathers PET an event that has never happened before, from an attack of a still somewhat alive Regal and Nebula Grey deep within the Undernet. She send her standard Model with a link back to the PET (Something she knew Dr. Cossack has designed and saved on the PET sense he asked another Net Navi to give that link to Bass so that he could return) to retrieve Bass though...that one was deleted in one shot by the Regal/Nebula Grey mutant.
She repaired his damaged systems with the help of her friend Danny as well as back up data stored in the PET from Bass.
Of course, Nicole expected Bass to leave the moment he would wake up, being independent allows him to and she bit Bass farewell after explaining herself to him.

Why did Bass stay? During the conversation when Bass was basically grounding her the entire time for what she did, he saw her left eye glow as his anger increased and stranger he even swore he saw himself for a moment as if he were in her position looking down at the PET. He went silent and stared into the eye for a quite long time, not even noticing that Nicole was apologizing to him. That was a moment when he wished he could get closer...but he was able to make out cybernetic currents run through her eye as well as the purple "scar" over it in combination to him feeling something very familiar to him, like a piece of his data.
His curiosity peaked and when Nicole went to bed, Bass was left alone pondering what he wanted to do. Leave or Stay?
Something was up with that Human and he knew it, something that didn't leave his mind...
In the end he decided to stay to investigate.
When Nicole questioned him, he only stated that he would replace her deleted Navi until she has a new one as a "thank you" for saving him.

Sense then, she truly became impotent. being the one accompanied by Bass, she got involved in all kinds of things, not to long after Bass became her Navi she also received a Crest from Duo which allows better cross fusion. While nobody ever believed Bass would be in full sync with anyone, sense he trusts no human in any way... the fact that the two managed to Cross Fuse... it was wild and Bass was getting more and more concerned that he actually might be trusting himself to someone. Though those dimensional areas also allowed him to have a more constant look on Nicole and her...odd features.
Thanks to a lot of the events where they were involved...the two did bond a lot and Bass no longer felt like wanting to leave, feeling... save for ones in his life again"
