Description
To celebrate the arrival (and awesomeness) of Plants vs. Zombies II, I have come up with more humanizations of the new plants!
Top row (from left): Bloomerang, Bonk Choy, Lightning Reed
Considering the Almanac entries on Bloomerang and Lightning Reed, I designed them wearing outfits that possibly reflected what they apparently liked to do, according to the Suburban Almanac. I decided to depict Bloomerang as a Steve Irwin-type Australian guy, with a pith helmet, khakis, and of course, a boomerang. For some reason, I also added a shark-tooth necklace because it fit with the drawing. Initally, I though that having his petals as hair would look a bit awkward, but it came out alright and looks a little like dreadlocks. I drew Bonk Choy based on his facial features and body type, and I kinda wanted to make him look like the tough guy he is. You know, the guy nobody wants to mess with? Exactly. My initial idea was to make him a kung fu guy, but since rapid-fire punching seems to suit his fighting style a heck of a lot more, I instead decided to give him a more tough-as-nails sort of look, and drew him in ill-fitting clothing to emphasize how burly/obese he is. I was going to draw Lightning Reed in a more rustic outfit (as I was told that he comes in the Wild West level) but I got a sneak peek at his almanac entry and decided to draw him as a '40's radio announcer instead, you know, with the swoopy coiffed hair, and the skinny tie who says things like "It's coming down to the 9th inning, folks!" and "It's coming along real swell, pal!". I think that he came out the best, considering that I added a bit of a "glow" around him and I made him really tall and thin to look more like his plant counterpart.

Iceberg Lettuce's Suburban Almanac entry made his "adorably cute eyes" a pretty big point. For this reason, I thought that it would be fitting to depict him as a young child, with a cute, friendly expression (that definitely packed an icy punch when the zombies came) and in a little mink sweater because he's so icy (and I tend to draw my humanizations of ice-related characters in winter clothes). Spring Bean was harder, as I didn't really know how to draw him with the right hairstyle. But I decided to do a variant on my human Peashooter's hair, with the sprig in the back and a curl on his neck. I made him look suave, because he's apparently a huge chick magnet. Gelled hair, loose hanging tie, charming grin-you know the type. Finally, I made Chili Bean look kind of shy, as he seems to be blushing, and drew him in a beret with a tassel on the end (like his stalk). When designing my humanization of him, I was thinking more about making him look sort of adorkable and for whatever reason, about the same age as Iceberg.
