She is also a key member of the Crew of the U.S.S.Titan. Nicely done.

AWESOME JOB!!!
"I don't need a medical opinion to tell me my own capabilities...."
I remember I really liked this episode; granted the last time I saw it was when it originally aired. This was a fascinating episode all about physical handicaps. I guess they tried to show even in the 24th century were most disabilities have been eliminated people can still be inadvertently patronising and belittling to wheelchair users and other differently abled people with a handicap.
In the Star Trek: Titan novels Melora Pazlar was serving as a lieutenant and head of the stellar cartography lab; then promoted to Lieutenant Commander and chief science officer aboard the USS Titan .

brilliant character - she's been greatly expanded in the novels as well.

It's cool how she's one of quite a few actors/actresses who played on Star Trek before Doctor Who, another couple are W. Morgan Sheppard (Ira Graves) and his son Mark A. Sheppard (Icheb's Father Leucon)

I also just re-watched that episode the other night; was in the mood to see some early DS9 again. Curious coincidences. Very nicely captured, great details, including her cane.

It's funny that I watched this episode a couple of days ago. I'm marathoning it when I cook since I was never able to watch it when it first aired. It's very well written.

Wasn't she in a 24th century wheel chair during that episode? I seem to remember reading where they had planned a handicapped character that had her cabin set to zero gees so she could get around without the chair, but the production logistics for it couldn't be worked out for an on-going character.

I think that was when they came up with Dax.
