Overall the idea is pretty cool But i feel like you are missing some knowledge of some basics ( i won´t talk about anatomy because often people just stylize it) 
The direction of the lightsource is pretty obvious in this one but it is actually hard to paint. You kinda treated it as a really big lightsource but what i would do is probably treat it like a really small lightsource for example a candle. This way you get much more mood into your painting and the bigger value changes would also make it more intresting. 
And since you are going for a somewhat realistic style i would try to get rid of the lineart and really try to define the edges just with light and shadows  
Also think about the color of your lightsource in this one it is kinda white/blue and it would give cool highlights to your piece (as you did on the hair) But on the face Some of the areas seem to be a bit to warm and you could just go even cooler there.

I love the shading in this <3 especially in the hair! The cute leaves in the back are really nice too. Nice job!

looks good but I am just wondering what you used for the light source. Again his hair looks  good and nice job with his emotion looking at whatever that is. I guess it's his powerful magic.

Nice work, the lighting is especially very well done especially the lighting as a result of the magic orb swirling in his hands. The character itself looks good too. Great work, keep it up!

this is brilliant, he seems like a very interesting character too. love the color blend, it goes together so perfectly and that magic orb is awesome too
