More MLP: Friendship is Magic fanart. Surprise, surprise.So, I like Discord and all but, ugh why does he have to have wings? :c I'm getting tired of drawing wings. (Of course that's my own fault. I could easily choose to draw one of the wingless characters, but nooo. I like frustrating myself, I guess. Ignore my whining.)
This changed a lot from the sketch. Still not quite sure what I think about it. Oh well! I wanted to draw Discord so I did and that's all that matters. I guess.

This is an amazing juxtaposition of the bold patterns of the stained glass with the realistic texturing and shading of Discord as he comes at the viewer. And the translucent detail of his bat wing is a nice touch. Five stars!

I really like how you gave his wings a tactile feel, like you can clearly imagine what they'd feel like. You did that very well with the rest of his body, too. I want to pet him! I like how you made it look like he's coming out of his window design, too. Neat

In many ways I think Discord was the perfect My Little Pony villain.
Now before anyone asks, it doesn't mean that I think Nightmare Moon was a bad villain. Far from it. But let's be honest, she was very basic in her approach towards the heroines. She would throw lightning bolts, enrage manticores and directly attack them herself.
Discord on the other hand is almost the polar opposite of Nightmare. While she was a serious personality with very direct means of dealing with her enemies, Discord's personality was far more aloof and jovial.
However, when HE faced the ponies, he attacked them in a way that was deeper, more personal and far more damaging to them as characters. He corrupted the most precious personality traits that made them who they were and turned this group, these best of friends, against one another.
That's what makes him a perfect villain for this series in my eyes. The message of the show is how important friends and friendship is. And Discord's whole purpose throughout his two episodes was to poison that friendship and turn it in upon itself. He is the absolute antithesis of the message of the series.
But while that made him a great villain for the series, it's also why I absolutely, positively DESPISE him. I did not enjoy a single moment he was on-screen. The heartbreaking moments he causes in those two episodes and the friendships he destroys have secured him a place in my personal "characters I'll never like" list. But then kudos to the writers for creating a genuinely despicable antagonist.

Originally I was just going to have the stained glass window be the background (sorta like how I just like sticking cutie marks as backgrounds, haha) but once I started outlining everything I just had to have him coming out of it. Made it a bit more interesting to me, at least!

Thank you! The part-of-him-still-in-the-glass thing wasn't part of my original sketch (the stained glass window was always there, but his tail and that hind leg were separate from it). Then the idea struck me as I was working on it, and I simply liked it too much to pass up!
