Description
reblog this on tumblr! [link]yup yup, I got my inspiration back. I tried to use some dark and earthy tones in this piece, more contrast and less vintage than in my recent work.
I am a tad disappointed this box is so small and you can't really see the plants in the box, which would have been the concept for this photo, but yeah, maybe you see them, tho'.
This is noisy at some point but I don't care.
I am happy.

Oh wart kurz!

It's pretty awesome anyway.
I like the execution and the depth of field especially, as the bokeh in the background adds a bit of depth to things, I feel.
The off-centre positioning makes it more interesting.. I really like the lighting and how it makes the atmosphere and mood lighter, in a sense, even though the piece is already quite profound with the subject matter there and the concept.
There could be a few minor adjustments, perhaps, but it's pretty good as it is.

I do like this picture. It's sweet.
I really hope anything I say here won't offend you. ^^" Just... try to keep an open mind. I'm not harsh. Ha.
You said you're sad you couldn't see the box very well. My suggestion is to kind of break from your habitual cutting-off-at-the-neck and just have a shot of your hands in the same position they are in this shot. That way the box is the focus and the eye isn't left searching for a focus.
You also mentioned that a lot of your photography was more vintage and you were striving for my contrast in this one. Mmm, I've been watching you for a little while now and I've noticed that your photography seems to lack a bit of depth in its colors. Your shots are fun, yes! And I liked where you were going with the freedom and deeper meaning in the shoot where you had you're shirt off(I forgot the title. No, you being shirtless is not why I like it.) and you were on the ground. But! In those couple of shots you also had a good deal of contrast. The colors were deep and eye catching. I guess what I'm trying to say is that a lot of your pictures, to me, feel a little washed out? Like you went just a tad far on trying to get the vintage look that you lost some of the detail.
As a suggestion, just try to keep your focal point in mind. What is your subject? Is it blending in with its surrounding too much?
Also, I'd just like to say I really liked your series about body language and disorders like anorexia. I guess I'm just a softie for black and white, but I really liked the meaning and the feel in those.
Ha, sorry for rambling at you. And I hope that you take something from my words, but if not, that's okay. heh. I'm just like you; a beginner who loves the art. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Maybe do a more close up shot that focuses on your hands more with the box. So it's closer and you can still have the human element involved?

I was going to suggest the same thing..but if you wanted someone in the photo..not just their hands lying down would work..could have it more close up..and include a face as well.

I think it would already help a lot if you used green plants, 1 because it stands out more against your white shirt and 2 because green is always associated with plants so it's more obvious what it is.

Nature in a box? Well, it isn't - though sometimes we wish to believe we could hold nature just in our hands, to caress it or to determine it. But we're just a part, and from one day to another even the smallest beings on this planet can change our whole lives.
Cool and inspiring photo for these days of the outbreak!
