Talking real-life here, I'd say 'magic' is Man's attempt to fool people into thinking they can perform miracles. But of course we know that it's only God alone whom can do true miracles - apart from the demonic powers of darkness, of course; but theirs is still nothing compared to God's awesome creative power.
