Description
This is the first version:Many people talked about the text being too small and I thought it was pretty crowded and scattered (though I still think it was a good first attempt). So to make a better poster, I condensed the crap out of it, both in text and in images to make essentially the same points but with less space, more pictures, and fewer words. I also uploaded a MUCH larger version so you guys can print your own though I DO have it available as prints over at Redbubble:
Buy it here if you like it
POSTER @ REDBUBBLE: [link]
Anyway, I think it turned out really well so what do you think?
EDIT: Cheeseheads are Green Bay Packers fans (football) and the Blue Army are fans of Aerosmith
EDIT2: A lot of people today have commented that they can't believe that anyone would consider KH girly, but it's been more than a decade since it came out so many people forgot or were too young to remember. It's a "Disney Princess" game that uses the word "heart" a lot and has touchy feely "I LOVE YOU MAN" bromance between the main characters. Obviously it's awesome, but I've seen guys who couldn't get past that and wouldn't play the game.

I only put it there because it was considered a girly game by some; to make a point. So far, it's generated much conversation as I expected

I love both of these posters! But I think if I were to actually own one, this would be the one I would choose. It has less information, so it's a faster read. I know that when I see a wall of text (HAR HAR GET IT?), I usually end up not reading it at all. I think this one is a little better organized too.
Lovely effort! I think I may buy one for a professor of mine some day.

My issue isn't with bronies as much as it is the 'annoying fan' factor in general. There are people in every camp that decide to shove their likes down everyone's throats. For a while, there WERE bronies freaking everywhere doing that because it was cool and it's what everyone was doing. That's died off quite a bit, and it does happen with every big, new thing. I don't like spamming with ANYTHING, ponies just happen to be a big thing of spammers choice (which means I burn out on seeing them), but that doesn't mean all the normal fans are condemnable IMO. You know frankly, I'd say you shouldn't even care what other people say. If they want to think it's weird, that's their choice, just as it's yours to enjoy it. Adopting an "I don't care what anyone thinks" attitude frequently shuts up people who want to run over you right quick.

I agree with everything you said. However, while all those things are true, that doesn't mean there's not value in posts like mine. Consider the teen who lives at home and is having a hard time explaining to his parents why he likes this show. They're confused and thing it means things it doesn't (like he's gay or rebelling or something) when we all know it's just a tv show. Things like this can help.

Oh yeah, of course. Not saying this doesn't have merit, just another perspective on why some people might grumble about ponies (not the ponies or the fans themselves, necessarily) and another way to deal with it.

I think it is all very interesting. Good art and animation and comic books should not have any boundaries. Any kid or adult should be able to like whatever they want. At the very least it opens a discussion of ideas.

The only problem people have with Bronies is that its the newest big thing and has plenty of people spamming things with Bronie related messages when most of the time its nothing to do with Bronies and it doesn't help they're usually toting an avatar too.
I've got no problem with whatever people like and I'm personally not a Bronie but to try and make a stand about the situation is pointless, its not real reason or thought that drives people to dislike the fact people are Bronies, rather lack of thought that it is just the next big thing that will inevitably die down after a while.
Also Bronys? Bronies? not sure which.

I wouldn't try to suggest that annoying bronies don't exist. What I have an issue with is when people try to claim that "all bronies are like that". There's annoying fans in every fandom and they're the loudest and most visible, sure, but they don't represent us all.

Also, if people dislike the fact you like watching MLP that isn't something you should try to discourage, if however they ask how you can like it if your male and lets say not a child then, yes this would probably be an alright method of explanation.
The reality is, you shouldn't have to explain to anyone why you like something but evidently the problem with that is, is that it will be harder for that person to accept.

...it seems there's lots of bronys commenting so I don't know if this deviation is even putting a good message across XD
I have to admit the first one did, and still creeps me out. I support people liking what they want but if girls act just like guys and guys act just like girls.....there's not much diversity. and I guess I'm more phased by the fact it doesn't even phase them that they like my little pony friendship is magic.
but anyway the other ones don't mean anything to me, that all sounds pretty typical for any fandom. And adults watching cartoons......my girlfriend is almost 18 and i'm forced to watch kid movies/shows with her all the time, no matter how young of a target it has. So that doesn't surprise me much either.
Anyway, my main problem with bronies is that is that, 1, I'm just tired of hearing about mlp in general, and 2, it seems like it's just a bandwagon. mlp has been around forEVER. and I'm suppose to believe everyone just happened to like it randomly with no influence? it's like a random popular trend..thats what annoys me about it most.

Is not really out of nowhere.
Notice that we only started liking it after Friendship is Magic came out. There was influence and that influence was Lauren Faust and the rest of the team. The quality of the show is 10x times better than any of the previous MLP cartoons.
And there is nothing we can do about the title. It a silly title but what do you want us to do about it?

Nimaru In reply to hansellu [2013-05-21 06:10:46 +0000 UTC]
If you think about it, is it even possible for it to be this popular this suddenly if there was no reason? I would never try to convince you to watch or like the show, but I can certainly represent some reasons why it's popularity is deserved. The short version is they actually took the trouble to build a world with depth and lore and every creation like that (Harry Potter, Star Wars, Star Trek) has ridiculously huge and enduring fandoms.
Here are some more specific reasons if you're interested: [link]
No worries if you're not, but please try not to hold it's popularity against the fans.

RePoisn In reply to hansellu [2013-05-21 05:30:30 +0000 UTC]
But it's not a random popular trend. True, MLP has been around since forever, but MLP:FiM has not. Have you even watched the older generations of MLP? Believe me, I don't think people would have liked it as much as it's latest version (which is Friendship is Magic).
And that's just it, it seems like a bandwagon but it's not. I've loved it since I've seen it around 2 years ago. And I've never stopped loving it. Of course there are people who jump in just because it's "popular", but there are a lot of bronies who genuinely and sincerely like the show for what it is. I love the fandom too! (Except the bronies who keep shoving ponies into other people's faces but hey, it's not like I dislike Touhou just because my classmate TALKS ABOUT IT EVERY SINGLE FUCKING SECOND IN SCHOOL and believe me, he does. And I respect cloppers even though I'm really not into that sort of thing. But they're a minority anyways.)

There was a time when some people would think badly of the game and players. Some people hate JRPGs and consider the fans weak and stupid, let alone one buried in Disney Princesses. That's why I chose it as an example; to show the ridiculousness of that point of view since everyone knows it's awesome now.

Hmm, ENGAGE KEYBROAD WARRIOR MODE!
Just kidding.. Yet not..
I'm not a fan nor foe of the ponies, however I can answer this one pretty easy, or as easy as my understanding lets me.
1.I think It is an over exposure to It.
Let's be for real here and talk about the DA's front page workings, much like this. Whatever has more views/comments/favs has a high chance of getting front page. Due to this and overexposure can happen. Much like sonic, anime or poltics. Popular thins will make It 95% of the time.
This also searchs on somethings on youtube, looking up a band ponies pop up. Looking up a game, ponies pop up. And somehow they will pop up in other popular things which makes It worse somehow because some people don't their mashpotatos with the pees.
2. Ex-parts of the fanbase got sick of It.
It is hard enjoy something you like when no one will look at anything but that. Same with sonic, but with sonic you bend the poop out of It. Ponies you kindof of gotta be a horse. So yeah. That is dishearting when you want to be known for one thing, but you are gonna be labeled "Another brony".
3.Some of the fandom a super rude.
There is a differents between autism, and.....Well personally, I feel It is more than likely people who made sonic, htf, or whatever was popular at a point tend to folks to "The next best thing" Sadily ponies was the "next best thing." and these people make these fandoms unbearable.
4.Brony-doc.
I need not say anymore about It.
I could go on, but I'm just gonna leave it at this. Your fandom is suffering what other fandoms do. However, I think the Amped up (We are super special because we like a show that is not ment for us.) attuide is what people don't like about It. To a lot of people, talking about how a show saved your life, change your point of view, or made you a better person is laughable. And I think that is where this comes from.
People came to the fandom liking the show, and thinking they would meet people, and felt like they walking into a giant neckbread circle jerking. Even If It is not, that is the stiga bronies got. And kindof got to live with.

I think the things you're saying are exactly why I make things like this. Oversaturation and a few annoying fans are problems, but they're personal problems. They're not something you should hold against the fans in general or the show for that matter. For example, I hate King of the Hill and American Dad. But they're everywhere: t-shirts, forums, games, etc. Popular shows are going to be for a while... but it will pass.

MrShuffleDeck In reply to Nimaru [2013-05-21 06:47:26 +0000 UTC]
It is hard to ignore something when It is large. Also the difference between King of the hill and Mlp is the simple fact you have to type in king of the hill a search to find them, You will not the first thing to pop up when you are looking for something else.
But It is understandable. However, everyone will be the judge by the loudest group of their fandom, race, or whatever It may be.
The fact is..people don't hate bronies for liking a show. They hate them because most acting like they above everyone else for liking a show, like how everyone hates russian fanboys or Homestuck.
Bronies are hated for being smug for liking a show made for young girls. Homestuck fans are hated for being the l33t speaking hispter in all of time.
And Russian faboys for acting like russian was the reason we won world war 2
It's the circle of hate.XD

" The fact is..people don't hate bronies for liking a show"
This is definitely not true in my experience. In certain places, if they find out you like the show, shit goes down. You don't have to mention it or be obnoxious, just being outed as a fan is enough. Besides, the myth of the smug brony is so very tiresome. Where are you seeing this? I don't think I've observed it once, ever. And I spend a fair amount of time in brony conversations online.
