Description
D8- Nim [Left] and D18- Flint [Right], displaying unique behavior at the surface of the water. They are fascinated at their own reflections after chewing Puffer fish.
Though large doses of a puffer's neurotoxinthe can be deadly - 100 times more potent than cyanide - in small amounts it is known to produce a narcotic effect.
To release the substance, the bottlenose dolphins were caught chasing the pufferfish along the ocean floor.
In a bid to escape attack, footage shows the fish quickly inflating into a ball shape.
The playful dolphins then grab the puffer between their teeth and pass it around until it eventually lets out a burst of poison.
A brown-colored cloud is seen dispersing and diluting in the water. As the dolphins drift off into their own world, the weary pufferfish seizes the chance to deflate and slip away into the deep blue.Β

I realized I have talked about Nim and Flint hanging out all the time, but have not yet drawn a picture of them together! And yep, what did you think they would get up to? The normal teenage-type things XD
I am also really proud of the sand at the bottom of the picture. I love how that turned out!

I do so love how you draw your orcas. ;; They always look so nice, SO JELLY MAN. TEACH ME YOUR ORCANATOMY WAYS! The blues look so nice, almost as if they convey how tripped out they are, blue everything! Ba-de-da-de-da-do Β Hmm, that water webbing though. :Q_

For the orcanatomy you draw a circle and then a line and you put a long circle in the line and then a tail and and some circles. Done.

I am really happy with the water webbing! I think I have a technique now that I will work on and see how I go. Webbing has always been the biggest mess in my drawings. I like how clean and deliberate this has come out, and something I can replicate!

Webbing is annoying which ever way you try to do it, EVEN LIKE THE PLACEMENT OF IT can be tricky. Who'd ever think water webbing could be so complex.

I wasn't 100% set on the reflections. I had something different in mind but I couldn't get it right, so that was a little frustrating. Having said that, I think the reflections that I did manage still suit the painting just fine and overall I am happy with it!

I have actually been thinking about recording a painting! Then uploading it as a speed paint! I love watching those from other people and it always inspires me to paint something. So I'd love to do something like that

My goal with these guys is to always 'learn' something about them in every painting I make of them! So there should hopefully be more paintings like this! I think that will be a fun way to keep the paintings interesting and my characters more lively. I want the paintings to tell their story
However I love painting to music as well, good for mood and atmosphere type paintings and sometimes boost ideas when listening
