Description
My second character for Undertow, a Roleplay based on my comic universe. Located here: oceantides.danach.co.uk/The RP has been on break over Christmas and is still new. Feel free to join!
This is Sabine in the Holy Waters of Kalos Sea, showing off some of her corals.
Meet my other character, Tobias! fav.me/d9g1nhx
I have been working hard on my backgrounds recently, so obviously this one is a bit disappointing lol. But it's a quick and dirty painting done in about 2 hours.
___________________________________
Name || Sabine [pronounced - Sa-been]
Gender || Female
Age || Young Adult
Species || Rissos Dolphin
Cliché || Forager
Faction || The Resistance
Religious Standpoint || Restoration
Location || Eden [on way to Sacred Isles]
Length || 9ft [2.7meters]
Build || Average-Slim
Description || Sabine is a small, slim female. She is a typical grey colour over her entire body, turning to a light grey towards her head and being darker towards the flank, with white on her belly. She has dark points, almost black, on her dorsal fin, pecs, under her chin and around her eyes. She is covered heavily in visible white/light grey scratches that mark her entire body, that are typical of her species. Some of the scratches that stand out in particular are 3 small scratches that surround her right eye in the black markings, and one horizontal scratch on her ‘cheek’ on the left side of her face.
Personality || Sabine sees the beauty of the ocean and cares about it deeply. She has a big heart and is always trying to help. She may come across too eager sometimes, having been known to get ‘excited’ when hearing that someone is sick or injured. This can be off-putting for the one who is sick! But she means well. She often will know how to cure whatever is ailing them.
Spending most of her life safe in Eden, Sabine is a peaceful soul. When she is healing the sick or injured, she is level headed and remains calm, however she is yet to experience any real dangerous situation herself so it is unclear how she would respond if her own life was in danger.
History || Sabine grew up in Eden. In school, she took great interest in learning about Restoration and was fascinated by the idea. Not just restoring the sea, but she enjoyed being able to restore the health of other cetaceans as well. She learned very early of the relationship between the health of the ocean and the health of the creatures that live within it, and from a young age started growing and harvesting corals, seagrass and kelp, creating beautiful 'gardens'. She makes medicine from her harvests and always tries to have some with her in her small kelp bag around her body, in case someone needs help.
She has recently been spending a lot of time traveling to the Sacred Isles, bringing corals and grass she has grown in Eden and ‘planting’ them in the Isles to start new Coral Colonies. Her dream is to revive the Holy Waters back to their original condition and turn it back into the most beautiful place in the Kalos Sea.

I love this so much! As much as I love seeing art depicting killer whales, it's always a nice change to see other cetacean species. You don't see a lot of Risso's dolphins in paintings. They are an amazing species. I've only ever seen one up close Stranded on a beach near where I live when I went on an ORRCA rescue.

Thank you! It is a pleasure to switch it up some times with a species I have never drawn before! Her head gave me some issues D:
You are lucky to see one so close! Were you able to refloat the poor baby? I do remember fairly recently a rissos was taken to Sea World for rehabilitation who unfortunately didn't make it Was it the same one?

Yeah we were in the water pretty much all day trying to refloat him and then tried to get him out through the bar area but unfortunately re-stranded on the beach again. When that happens it usually means they are sick and want to die
No, it wasn't the same one. But seaworld do an amazing job to rehabilitate marine mammals!
