Figured I'd be all conformist and such and make one of these. It's the Chaos Lord Eliphas from Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade, I figured I'd be him, since I'm always Chaos in DoW, and he's my favourite unit

Cool... I feel like there's probably a lot of detail I can't see though. If I get right up next to my monitor and fiddle with brightness and contrast settings, I can see a little bit... but at my normal monitor settings it looks like a really dark red Darth Vader helmet with hella-crazy horns and a waving fist.

Looks perfect on an LCD, I don't have a CRT to test it on so I don't know how it will turn out on a CRT, and your settings are probably actually a little dark too. You should be able to see atleast the highlight of the right hand (asin his right, not yours) moving up and down. But yeah, I usually use black armour, the red is to just go with the fact that he leads Alpha Legion, and their armour is red, so I figured for both the sake of being historically correct and visability, haha.

Yeah... well... my CRT's also 6 years old, so that probably has something to do with it too. (Yes, it's a sad story indeed, my monitor is a 6-year old 15" I got with the computer I took to undergrad... I was going to buy a nice new monitor when I built a new PC, but then couldn't afford it... and when I could afford it, I bought a laptop instead.
