I've planned to draw this one since the time I drew Charizard. My version of Dragonite is not so fat and has much bigger wings so that it can actually fly.This picture is a tribute to my dear Dragonair Aurora that just evolved into Dragonite in my Fire red game ^^
And sorry for spamming you with so much pokemon lately ^^
Edit: After someone finally told me that previous version of drawing was absolutely horrible I fixed it quite a bit and made colors stronger.

dragonite has always been one of the best and this art work is amazing

To be quite honest, I think that Dragonite is misplaced. If they wanted to make a pear with wings (Thanks, Deviant-Smurf), then they should have made a proper chain in and of itself. I always thought Dratini's last evolution should have been more like a Quetzalcoatl (feathered serpent).

Awesome! Dragonite has always been one of my favorites... I've never quite understood why it and Charizard are so chubby and, realistically, FLIGHTLESS in the games. xD
I really love the the shading and colors- it has a soft, watercolor-y effect.

This is what Dragonite SHOULD look like, but instead we go from Dragonair, one of the most graceful PokΓ©mon, to a pear with wings (wings that are much too tiny, as you pointed out).

True, but note that they are esssentialy not so different to start with, and dragonites original colors don't look very attracitve because they are kind of pale (honestly, they looked awfull) I made them just a bit more saturated

Dragonite would look quite a bit more epic if he weren't as fat, like you've shown here. :3
Also, that's pretty amusing that yours is named Aurora- mine is Borealis, haha~ very nice.
