So any chance we are going to see Ursala meeting with a still crazy Azula? Because I think seeing your daughter driven to insanity in part due to your actions would spoil any mother's good mood and make a very sad and tragic picture.

The thing is it wasn't Ursa's fault. Ozai saw Azula as a prodigy and only gave her attention for that, when Ursa tried to spend time with Azula she would do something nasty that would cause Ursa to scold her for that and often Azula would do things to embarrass her brothers and friends.
Ursa did try to be a good mom to Azula, Azula was too stubborn and selfish to give love back to Ursa and didn't realize what she lost until she saw her mother in a hallucination and saw, and because she wasn't dismissing her mom that time like she did as a child she finally heard the words from Ursa that she wanted to hear, 'I love you' and Azula was filled with regret because she wasn't appreciative of her mother enough or even bothered to listen to her when Ursa and Zuko were the only people in her family she could trust and should have saw Ozai as her enemy.

We never saw Ursa try and be a good mother to Azula, she spent all her time with Zuko because he reminded her of her old lover. The only way Azula could get any attention from her was by acting, so that's what she did. On top of that Ursa could see what Ozai was doing to her daughter and never really tried to stop it. So yes, Azula going crazy is just as much Ursa's fault for neglecting her as it was for Ozai manipulating her. Kind of like Su Beifong is responsible for Kuvira going mad with power do to her refusal to take action when Earth Queen died. If she had stepped into fill the power vacuum (or at least she could have been more supportive of Kuvira stepping up to the plate), then Kuvira never would have had to do it. But she instead decided to hide in her city while her nation burned. Let that be a less, inaction can be just as terrible as action.

Dude I love this! Usually whenever I see pictures of Ursa and Mai, Ursa is making fun of Mai or telling Zuko to go with Katara. But honestly I think this is really realistic. I mean Mai grew up her children and she probably knew her parents and stuff! I think this is a pretty good/legit reaction!

Yes! I love this, it's so perfect. People seem to think Ursa wouldn't approve of Mai, but I think she'd be overjoyed. Mai looks like she needs a moment to get used to parental figures giving public displays of affection...

Awww, how could anyone think sweet loving Ursa could disapprove of anyone her son loves? Silly people, she's not that kind of mother! <3 X3

I know. I bet she knew Mai had a crush on him all those years ago and is thrilled Zuko actually returned it- remember the "Girls are crazy" comment?

Now that I'm back from class and have time to flail, Mai and Ursa pics are something that I've been trawling this site for for a long time...there are so many parallels between the two, and I feel like she would have picked up on Mai's crush immediately (and maybe even Zuko's crush on her) and subtly tried to pair them up...also, the thought of her making Mai uncomfortable when she returns is a warm-and-fuzzifying thing. Doing the cliche "friend of the family" thing--"You've grown!" and all that stuff. And it's like, "Hi, Mrs. Zuko..." *blush* You know. This is what I think about in free time...or during class...or whenever.
It's also cool because of how Mai is like Ursa's clone in "The Boiling Rock"....
Scheduling the two of them next to one another wasn't THAT deliberate, though...it actually wound up as sort of an accident, but I then thought it would be interesting to see how those played out....and so, here we are!
At a piece of artwork that's well-done as usual, with Mai looking surprised and Ursa looking...Ursa.
Yeah, I'm spazzing. XD
