Description

His kingdom was a lifeless expanse.

It was not the desert wastes, nor the frozen land of ice and snow, but it stretched before him as far as he could see. Around him, the night was still. Only a lonely wind wailed past him on the rocky crag on which he stood, ruffling his jet-black feathers. The harpia paid no mind to the wind, his hunger-filled gaze fixated into the distance. Atop him sat his rider- a nasty little imp-like creature, whom he only referred to as “It”. As far as he was concerned, It was his hunter and voice, nothing more.

They had been travelling for the past three nights without a meal, keeping to the shadows of the clouds. The harpia loathed it, the running and hiding, as if they were the hunted. They had been cast out from their old territory, overthrown and betrayed…But that was no matter. This new land would be his- the dark clouds that were gathering in the horizon told him so. They had already chased away anything that roamed the skies, save him.

The harpia did not fear the storm, for he was Aktzin, lord of the storm. He would fly into its dark embrace, and it would welcome him.

Aktzin lifted his head and let out a piercing shriek.

As if in reply, thunder rumbled ominously in the distance, a harbinger of the storm to come.

This entire story will be centered around the viewpoint of Aktzin , since I haven't seen any yet that are focused specifically from a stryx's perspective.
(also I think I have a habit of drawing the rider before I actually make a ref sheet for them lmao)
