Gandrayda from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Despite her rather saucy and arrogant nature, she's an absolutely awesome looking character and I really wanted to do a picture of her. I was also surprised to see there's SO little art of her here on dA!I had to do many shaded layers for her to give her that real transparent and life-like effect. The background is supposed to be Phazon. It was a lot of fun, to do.

They should have done a lot more with her character; I think it would have been great. But the game had so much going on at once, it doesn't surprise me that Retro didn't.

One thing though, her hair doesn't really look like that, it's more clustered up and rock-like.

This is probably the best Gandrayda picture in existence (so far), which really isn't saying much. It seems like everyone would rather fawn over that douche Rundus (voiced by the equally-douche Vegeta, no less), yet Gandy is disliked and even hated just for showing some unique personality.
Plus, Gandy is considered Samus' rival (according to her Scan Log). One would have to be very powerful to be considered a rival for the galaxy's number-one hunter. I mean, Capt. Falcon has Samurai Goroh for a rival hunter, so why not Samus?
Shame she got killed, but there's always prequels. Here's to Gandrayda in Smash Bros. 4! *toast*

Thank you very much, and I know! Isn't it a shame? It was hard as heck to find references. In fact, I really had to just use the 3D model available with the in-game scan. All hail Retro for having those.

There was a 3D model in the scan? Because in Prime 3, aren't scans like those in Prime 1 (the pictures displayed alongside the scan information look more like blueprints than anything), whereas MP2 had full avatars. But, either way, you did a great job of drawing her.

Nah, in MP3, you have the scan itself screen, that has the blueprint-like artwork on the sides. But on the bottom right-hand corner, there's a light blue cube icon. Click it, and it'll pull up a 3D model of whatever the scan is of, and you can rotate it around and move, all that jazz.

Layers. Lots and lots of layers. =3 I'm actually going to go back and work on her a little bit, because there are a couple details (namely her feet and her leg) that need a little touching-up in my opinion.
