‘Tis the season… COLD AND FLU SEASON THAT IS, AMIRITE? (ENTIRE WORLD LAUGHS FOREVER)

WHOO. Alright, everybody calm down, please, let’s talk about the art.

So, final project for illustration topic. 30x40 banner print. Naturally I’ve scaled it down for tumblr. Ink plus digital color, plus texture from rice paper that I made.

There were a couple themes to chose from, I did ‘Invisible World’ which I interpreted as the wonderful world of microorganisms. So we got ourselves some nice germ snow. The animal is a dust mite, the bricks are plant cells and the sweater pattern is striated muscle tissue.

Another element of the assignment was to draw inspiration from another illustrator, I chose Yuko Shimizu. (Mostly inspired by her palettes and gooey amoeba thingies) [link]

Man, it wasn’t intentional but the guy in this ended up looking weirdly like my brother.

Anyway, before everyone bitches me out for tumblr nose syndrome, let me attempt to defend myself by saying that this character has a bad cold.
