Description
Edit: Thankyou for giving me first place, sweetcheeks!Other version
This is a thankyou to *Ehryn for being so lovely. This was supposed to be completed in November for her competition before I became busy, but thankfully the deadline was moved to the end of december, so this is my entry.
This is her character, Belanithe. Her clothing is supposed to be 'natural', so I've decided that she painted the patterns herself, okay?
This is also my belated 'Merry Christmas' present to you guys... sorry its late!
Info nugget of the day - Ice flowers:
Ice flowers are seeds born of ice and a magic bacteria. The seeds are as light as air and they float on the currents until the air turns cold. They then get caught in falling snow and drop to the earth, germinate and sprout to become ice flowers.
The flowers themselves are edible and when they are broken or melted, a seed is left behind and floats away again.
An ice flower is identified as ripe when the petals are hard, stright and crystal clear. You can tell if an ice flower has been infected by poison or is unripe/ overripe by the colour it is. The petals are tinted pink when they are underripe, the petals do not reflect light or colour when they are overripe and the petals curl slightly when they are infected with poison (natural or manmade alike). Any one of these symptoms can be deadly to the body depending on the severity of the condition of the flower.

As a smaller thumbnail I liked the other one better...it seemed like it all fit together well. But on a closer viewing, the details and color seem to come together better on this one...more realism.

Mm, it is the generic colour of cold blue which people are used to with snow that make them go to #2 at first, I think.
Thankyou for your opinion

I must say, I quite like the (sepia?) tone in this. I'm not sure what it is, but it seems more appealing to me~
They're both great though,I think it's really just a matter of opinion.

These are the original colours I did. The other one is a colour overlay on the image. Normally people think of snow as cold and blue, but this month we've had snow with the sun shining through and it goes a warm orangey-brown colour. Thats what I was basing my colour scheme from, but I wondered which one people would prefer - the generic colours of cold or the warm colours we dont often see during snow.
Thankyou for your opinion

Personally, I prefer this one.
It has a much richer tone than the other one, so it makes the picture feel warmer, but it's still bright enough not to disagree too much with the mood set by the snow and the white palette.
Also, the contrast is higher in this one which makes it easier to see the detail. The other one seems a little washed out, so you lose a lot of the thinner lines, especially in the hair.

I agree with you about it being more washed out in the other.

Nothing too bad. He just fell of his chair.. But because hes getting old (and he was drinking) he couldn't get himself back up, and we couldn't lift him either.
Eventually he sobered up and got back up though xD
