Description Another cover for a novel~ Inspired by Frazetta and others, playing around with a bit more painted fantasy style~

(I'm copy and pasting infos here cuz I'm not too sure of the book, etc)

Almuric (Trade Paperback)

Author: Robert E. Howard

"The creator of Conan looks to the stars in one of fantasy’s most enduring science fantasy classics!

Robert E. Howard’s Almuric is a savage planet of crumbling stone ruins and debased, near-human inhabitants. Into this world comes Esau Cairn, Earthman, swordsman, murderer. Only he can overthrow the terrible devils that enslave Almuric, but to do so he must first defeat the inner demons that forced him to abandon Earth.

Filled with vile beasts and thrilling adventure in the tradition of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Almuric is one of Howard’s few novels, and an excellent yarn from one of America’s most distinct literary voices."

I love it! You've definitely captured the soul of the old sword-and-sorcery/sword-and-planet genre. I love the dynamism of the POV, the posture of hero, lady and beasts--and the atmosphere you've created with the colors and medium is beautiful.

It´s awesome but I heard this story on youtube (audiobook). Can´t say I recognize these werewolf creatures. Maybe there are more novels?

channeling the masters like krenkel, st. john and frazetta. awesome.

It's a very excellent, evocative picture. Aside from the other comments, I have to say this chap is more Conan than Esau. Esau didn't have quite as long hair as here (he was an earthman, after all), and the Baboons are a bit too rat-wolf-like.

Stylistically, though, it's excellent. Very Frazetta-like.

Ha, I knew that I know the title! I love to read Howard's works - but sadly, I was able to get my hands only on Conan I would be happy, if I managed to found some works about Cairn or Solomon. Guess that I should visit several second-hand-bookshops again

And btw, I think that one of the Conan story-books have very similar cover

I really enjoy this piece. It reminds me of my first experiences with Dungeons&Dragons as well as the old Hero Quest boardgame.

By Crom, it sounds so kick-ass! It sounds like the Barsoom saga, but in REH's style of pulp action. Dame, I need to get that yarn!

I bet you're pretty stoked to be doing this. I know I'd be pretty freaked out. I really dig the nebulous background shapes. The figures are definitely working. Kinda wish the beasts were a bit more ferocious. Very nice work man!

brilliant as always, mate! I think my only crit would be... if you could pull out more of the background 'underpainting' colors in the figures and stuff you'd be rocking even closer to the masters like Frazetta. It's that insane ability they have of painting over their sketch and tone only the rendering that is needed... a bare minimum of thick paint on the underpaint results in this crazy color shifting, and awesome transilluminosity! I love it!

It seems as if the energy of the sword swing isn't being applied in the direction he's attacking, maybe if his position was different it would look a little bit more comfortable.

Overall, you did a kick-ass job
