Description
[edit] I have a correction to make: as they told me this is not a koi but a fantail fish! Sorry for the mistake! As promised here there is my first tutotial! I took those step by step pictures in August on request for the Colombian pubblication "en Familia" and I decided to publish them here on DA, expecially for share some tips with other polymer clay artists.
The pubblication asked me to make an animal and I chose a fish taking inspiration from my goldfish Quattro.
I will update it if something else comes to my mind. If you use the tutorial I'd be really happy if you show me the result!
Note: pay attention while working with kinifes or pointed objects, if you're a child ask an adult to help you.
[edit 2] Suggested by ~TheDemonSurfer
I forgot to tell that as dark colors as red blue (but also yellow) have a tendancy to stain lighter clay (as white or pale skin color) you should work first with white then touch darker colors. When that's not possible you should change your gloves or wash them (water and soap aren't enough, frequently you have to brush the gloves).

Does that make it harder or easier to work with?

I think it's quite harder expecially to grab tiny things, anyhow you get used to it If you want to try don't forget to take small sized gloves so that they stick to your skin!

I never thought about using latex gloves, very clever. That will definitely help to keep super soft clays clean, especially white.

I think it might be better to use a smaller size though, i have my normal size and they move around on my hands too much.

Yes I wear a small size of them, they have to be more sticked as possible to your fingers

nice, nice. I see for the first time that someone is using gloves. But it's quite goood idea;]
I'm using alcohol on my super sculpey to make it smooth.
I'll try gloves but I'm affraid that it will be hard for me to work.
Soon I will submit my last sculpture;] But without color for now.

Many people that work with fimo use those, anyhow alcool seems to be a good idea too! I won't be able to use it on fimo as it's going to became sticky and break If you want to try make sure the gloves aren't too big or it will be impossible to grab anything >.<

very cute! ... but um... technically, that's not a Koi, it's a goldfish. XD
A "fantail" goldfish to be precise. but a Koi is a type of Carp. they're longer, flatter have one back fin and have wiskers. Little ones.

I't funny to work with clay, you just need to practice a bit before making something really satisfying (or at least this is that happened to me while starting) ^_^

I know polymer clay is hard to find (If I still lived in a small town I had no chances to get it)
Anyhow thank you very much for your comment!
