Hey guys! Long time no post!I got the okay to post some pictures of one of the latest projects I worked on and I wanted to share. This is a 2-in-1 mini-bust of Marvel Comics characters Cloak and Dagger done for Bowen Designs. I felt very fortunate to be able to work on this as not only am I a huge fan of the characters, but I was also able to base it on the Cloak and Dagger painting I made a few years ago. So it was just a big nerd dream come true for me.
It was also a bit of a logistical nightmare as well just because of all of the stuff crammed into one piece - Two figures (one male, one female, one black, one white) big flowing cloak, bunch of twisted souls within the cloak, and all balanced together on a single base… YIKES! I’m pretty happy with how it all turned out but I was sweating bullets the entire time.

i'm not familiar with Cloak and Dagger, but the detail on this sculpture is soooo amazing! the intensity of the whole deal is striking! the hands especially are gorgeous. (not that i have a hand fetish, but w/e)

Yea those fingers were a bitch to do. Took me about an entire 12 hour day to do each hand. So 4 days blown just on sculpting hands alone. Each finger has a tiny piece of armature wire running thru it so just in case I bumped one being the clumsy 'tard that I am it wouldn't snap off completely.

Thanks Ronin! Randy actually showed me a casting of it today so I guess it wasn't too tough, but I surely didn't envy the guy that had to mold the thing. The head and arms are detachable so that helps but I'm sure it was no easy feat.

I actually sculpted the inside of the cloak first and then sculpted the outside of the cloak around it after all of the faces were done. It's kind of a backwards way to do stuff but otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get my tools in there as easily to sculpt all the details.
It's all made out of Super Sculpey.
