Description
The leviathan is a large mosasaur of about 20 meters or 65 feet in length. leviathans typically eat everything they can find including squids, sharks, whales and even other leviathans. To combat this mortality rate, mother leviathans typically have around ten young which swim alongside her for protection. Like many aquatic animals, leviathans exhibit countershading which blends with the bright sky from below and with dark waters from above. The black skin also helps them absorb additional heat from the sun. With a strong shark-like tail fin, elongated pectoral fins and a small dorsal fin, these mosasaurs are extremely fast, able to outswim any whale or shark that could pose a threat or become prey. And with a potent venom, even the largest whale is no match against this great predator. Once a kill has been made, mosasaurs from many kilometers away will rush to the site of the battle to feed off the carcass. With their second row of teeth many of the smaller and more agile leviathans can get a sufficient amount of food before being bullied away by their larger kin.
