Description Just finished a sword scabbard for a fantasy larp this summer.
Quite inspired by the computer game ""The witcher", but with a few own touches.
The quiver and bag is removable, should the need arise to be more dextrious.

Thank you.
They are actually made of polymer clay, as I had no deer horn parts availible...

I was wondering about the practicality, too. Can you draw from it? I know if the sword is short enough it can be drawn without too much trouble. I was actually watching this YouTuber who goes by Metatron who had a video discussing the ease of drawing from a back scabbard and he gave a tip that if you grab the scabbard in the other hand and pull down on it while you're drawing the sword clears the scabbard more easily.

Yep, you can draw it, but as I said above, it is not the lightning speed draw that you see in movies.
I realised that too after a couple of tries. Practice makes perfect.

I'm not one of those people who dislike back scabbards for historical reasons,  but how easy is it to pull the sword out of the scabbard anyway? Again, , I have no problem with back scabbards be it in a fantasy or "historical" setting.

Also, I do realise that this is fantasy

Lets just say it is possible, but one or two seconds too slow for thoose quick-reaction draws. I actually chose a sword short enough to work, and adjusted the scabbards position very carefully.
The main problem with the draw is that the leather is just a tiny bit too snug at the bottom of the scabbard. I'll probably wet-shape it again sometime when I got time.
