Really, you don't like charcoal? I think it's much easier to work with than most other mediums.

Mostly because it is messy, also partly because it's harder to erase and do finer details with. When it comes to black and white stuff I prefer using ink or graphite. The important thing to remember though is that I am really fucking picky.

Holy crap! That is absolutely amazing. It looks so realistic, but also has that sketchyness to it. The shading on and around the eyes turned out perfect. And the fact you got the scales to look good too! You should draw more often.
